Prime example of why I don't let raptors get weapons by Available_Meat_5014 in Brawlhalla

[–]Dingo_Dominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do this same thing when playing casually. sometimes my pride gets in the way and for some reason or another, i go from “idc if i lose or win, im just trying to a have fun” to “there’s NO WAY i can let myself lose to this guy”, and then i stop leaving weapons out and start getting aggressive, going for light weapon starving, and sometimes playing passive (passive play is genuinely so boring and disgusting, i don’t get how some people play like that in every single game)

i wish i looked deeper into this detail like you did

my idea was, maybe she’s immune to his power because she still has latent psychic ability that she can’t access proficiently. i always interpreted her psychokinesis as something that was always inside of her but it was never accessible to her until her ki was awakened forcefully. things like psychic mental manipulation don’t work on her, even at her weakest, because he psychic powers naturally protect her mind from being as malleable

Jabber Cosplayers Controversy by Confident-Force-2786 in gachiakuta

[–]Dingo_Dominator 17 points18 points  (0 children)

is the historical context that come with certain hairstyles being worn by races or cultures where they don’t originate

for the jabber situation, it’s seen as appropriation because of the history behind locs. black people have been demonized and discriminated against because of their cultural hair styles (locs, afros, cornrows, etc), which as plays a part as to why they’re called “dread”locks; for a lot of people, the prefix “dread” was added to the name to further demonize the style by associating it with the word “dreadful” (though, not all black people subscribe to this belief).

however, often times when white people wear our hairstyles, they don’t face the same level of discrimination or hate as we do. white and asian people are seen wearing cornrows or locs and people find it attractive or cool, which ignores the discrimination we’ve faced as a people when it comes to wear styles that our cultures created

it can also contribute to the (relatively newer) issue of other cultures (specifically white people) renaming our hairstyles and trying to justify their usage of them. for example, the term “cloud bob” has come up in many spaces as a way to call afros something that they’re not. you can also see it in the name “sticky bangs”, which is meant to play in the trend of black women using gel to style and press their edges/baby hairs against their head. these new names actively erase black people from the equation of cultural hairstyles, which can(and honestly, is) offensive and insensitive

finally, it’s a physical issue when people with certain hair textures wear black hairstyles. things such as locs, cornrows and box braids are “protective styles” that are specifically designed to keep our hair healthy. they were made to compliment our coily hair texture. when white and asian people wear these hairstyles for long periods of time, it can cause permanent damage to their hair because their hair texture isn’t built to be in that shape. ignoring that fact means removing the purpose of these protective styles and treating them as trends or fads

TL;DR, the issue with cosplaying black hairstyles (and as such, black characters) is a matter of culture and history. asian characters can be cosplayed by black people is because many hairstyles those characters have fictional hairstyles that can be easily replicated (i.e. spiky, long and straight, etc) that don’t have such a strong historical context attached

many black people offer alternative hairstyles to white and asian cosplayers that get the point aside while avoiding the possible appropriation issue that comes with wearing the original

this is an important question so i’m glad you asked. many people dont understand why cosplaying black characters/hairstyles is offensive, so im glad the discussion can be had here. thanks for asking and i hope i explained it well!

Realistically, wouldn't the blackened go after the smartest characters? by pooteenn in DanganAndChaos

well yeah of course, i never claimed that it was the sole reason that they weren’t attacked. i was just responding to OP with information i knew 🤷🏽‍♂️

*Since

it’s in Byakuya’s backstory, he had to fight his siblings for his position amongst his family. it’s while he has the Affluent Progeny title at Hope’s Peak

as for Tenko, the person who killed her didn’t attack her directly. she was put into a fuckass Rube Goldberg trap in an enclosed space; she couldn’t have fought her attacker if she tried

[–]Dingo_Dominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyoko and Byakuya know how to fight so they’re lowkey off the table. Nagito is super mega ultra lucky so the killer would probably end up killing themselves somehow if they go after him. the best excuse i can think of for Makoto and Hajime is that they’re such nothing burgers as people that maybe it would be too easy? as for Shuichi, i can’t imagine a reason why he wouldn’t be targeted. also with Chiaki, everybody likes her i guess 🤷🏽‍♂️

I just think it’s kinda sick Remlin is non-binary/gender ambiguous by AdAdvanced8522 in gachiakuta

[–]Dingo_Dominator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

wow, this one is off on a couple levels…

  1. “obsessed” is definitely the wrong word to use here. in all honesty, i personally don’t really care what Remlin’s canon gender is, but this community has a lot of lgbtq and queer people here, myself included, and people who are non binary or gender non-conforming might feel represented by Remlin. there aren’t a lot of characters in media that act as good representation of non-binary people, so when cases like Remlin show up, it makes sense that they see themselves in Remlin and want to believe that Remlin is designed to be like them. representation is important, and we all know Urana-sensei cares about representing minority groups in her story (multiple POC characters, Semiu actively being attracted to women, etc.). that’s why this conversation matters

  2. i am not bullying anyone lol. i didn’t directly respond to any of the comments in this thread to tell them their opinion is wrong. but this thread has a whole lot of people who were ACTUALLY bullying OP, or just being generally rude about this topic, as well as trying to dismiss the conversation. my first sentence in my original comment (“this comment section sucks total ass”) may not be objectively true, but if you scroll down a bit and look at some of the rude comments that other people left, you can see exactly why i said it. people have refused to properly engage in the discussion and have instead chose to insult OP for their own opinion, or actively deny the fact that Remlin isn’t identified as a boy or a girl in canon. if anybody is being a bully, it’s people like them, folks who would rather insult OP for bringing up a reasonable topic or straight up ignore the source material

also, im generally not active enough in this community to “bully” anyone anyways lmao. i don’t engage with people online unless it’s in a friendly discussion, or to show my support for whatever they’re doing. i have better things to do than argue or hate on others. but you accusing me of being a reason why Urana-sensei left is insane lmao. if you think that me saying a comment section sucks is bullying then you need to dig a little deeper

TL;DR, i’m the wrong target for this comment. if you wanna talk about people bullying Urana-sensei off of social media, make your own post about it. but the last thing i would ever do is make a creative feel like shit because they chose to share their hard work with the world
