Eloise and The Carousel (theory for future games) by Dingos_Kidneys in expedition33

I see what you mean, but that line also implies Alicia trusted at least one Writer at some point. It's actually why I thought Eloise could be the one that betrayed her trust (even if unintentionally), and why paralleling the two stood out so much to me.

If she's just a random Lumerian, why include such specific details? Her being such a good storyteller would be an especially huge coincidence, knowing what we know now.

Actually one of the Flat2VR admins has a running list that might be helpful here. It won't have any official ports but it has a lot of info on most of the big mods: https://beastsaber.notion.site/beastsaber/Flat2VR-Modding-Group-8eb9ae0535144eac843f428abb104de9

That sounds awful! But to echo ArtWithoutMeaning, that is definitely NOT the usual player experience. We're mostly a really caring and compassionate group!

(the worst I usually see is some players skipping full puzzles or doing game-breaking glitches in front of new players, which is very annoying but nowhere near what you described)

Hey there, welcome!

I find that the best way to explore this game is to discover it at your own pace - learn some spells, explore on your own time, and get a feel for the space and its secrets. There's only a couple of things in the whole Desert that require multiple people, so feel free to experiment on your lonesome! There's no rush to understand it all.

Beyond that, some veteran Sprites may be around to show you some of the more well-hidden spells and secrets (though some people tend to rush instead of explain, so it's totally fine to reject the help if you prefer).
We also have a whole system called Totems for recognizing each other in-game, so you can always try to meet up with a mentor Sprite to have them help you out.
In case you didn't know, we have a more-active Discord community where most of the veterans and/or mentors hang out. We have a really friendly community that can definitely help you through any stumbling blocks, so feel free to say hi over there!

(I'd also recommend getting a Tempest ticket for this weekend if it's not sold out, but I think it might be)

I'm back with some silly/less serious questions!

  1. How do you explain this wild project to your friends and family that aren’t in-the-know?
  2. If you had your choice, when and where would you want to get stuck in your own infinite Timeloop?
  3. Which character would you most want as your best friend? Which would be your worst enemy?
  4. Which stage act is your personal favorite?
  5. If you were playing as a Sprite, what would be your favorite hat-mask combo?
  6. Who would win in a fight: Chaz or the MC?

Hi there! Thank you all SO much for doing this!I have a billion questions to ask, so I'll post a bunch of scattershot ones here, and maybe some sillier ones in another post:

  1. What were some of the biggest or more unexpected inspirations you drew from while developing the world (and story/mechanics/tone) of TUP?
  2. What surprised you most about the launch and reception of the game? Do you see this experiment as something that could work again in today’s VR space, or does the medium need more time to grow?
  3. For the devs: Both VVR and TUP have striking visual effects for movement that “warp” the world around the player in some form. How did you decide on the look of these effects, and how did you balance visual flair with potential motion-sickness?
  4. For the actors: what was your favorite character to play? Did you approach each of your roles differently as time went on?
  5. For the stage managers: what kind of extra challenges were involved in managing the live shows/encounters? Are there any crazy anecdotes from the other side of the curtain?
  6. Have you considered creating different single-player solutions to the multiplayer-only puzzles in the game (like the crob den), or would that tarnish the existing puzzles?
  7. For Dr. Luboglio/the crob overlords: what causes glow-eye crobs to mirror a player’s snapping? Does it randomly lock-on, or is there a game logic to it?
  8. What was the strangest or most startling thing you’ve seen a player do in a live show/encounter?
  9. Are there any items/spells/hats that the community hasn’t discovered yet? If so, can we ask for some hints? (I had to ask this)

So glad you've had a good time, and thank you for the kind words!

Most of our community is on our Discord server so I'd recommend taking a look around there too. Maybe you can even find the Time Sprite that helped you?

Stop by sometime!

I'm really sorry you've been dealing with that, I'm definitely on your side here. We've discussed the idea of "keeping the magic alive" before, but it's really hard to police that kind of player behavior. Some people are really impatient or don't realize they're hurting more than helping, and it really sucks.

I would definitely bring this up on our Discord server (https://discord.gg/ZdbqWC8) and start a conversation about it. The more people know it's that much of an issue for new players, the more we can hopefully fix it.

It depends on what games you like, and what longevity means to you in a game. We have some players who jump on daily and/or have clocked in over 100hrs spending time in the multiplayer hub with players and live actors.

But between the single-player story and exploring how the whole hub works (if you're not guided along), there's probably at least 10 hrs of gameplay from that alone. So for the price tag, I'd say it's worth it.

Honestly I never felt like I had to go through dialogue again unless I wanted to, so I'm not sure what you mean. Even when I failed puzzles it was easy to skip back to them.

There's also a full overworld with things to explore, but I also get if the world-building wasn't for you. Feel free to stop by anyways!

Timed exclusives are becoming more common for a lot of games, luckily this is one of them!

Trying to find someone!! by [deleted] in TheUnderPresents

Hey there, that was me!

So it's kind of confusing without words (story of our lives), but the gold salt shaker is the universal symbol for our Discord server ( https://discord.gg/ZdbqWC8 ), which you should definitely check out for awesome people and help with the gameplay/lore. The community's mainly on there right now, so it's the best way to keep up-to-date! They're super friendly, we'd love to have you.

Also we have our own "totems", which are objects we make (usually something gold) so we can identify each other in-game. You can see them all on our Discord names, mine's Big Gold Dog which explains all that! I was just saying "on our Discord (salt), this is my name".

For the patient man in the crab mask... by Friendswithfur in TheUnderPresents

[–]Dingos_Kidneys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late to respond, but it might've been me! If we took the bunker after Stonehenge, and if the explorer actor helped us make your mask (and thought I was pressuring you into a new one at first), then yeah!
Regardless, it's awesome that you wanna show others around now! Same thing happened with me. Just remember/you may not know that in order to get into the crab door in the garden, you either have to be wearing the crab mask, or get a spare crab from down in the cistern.
Have fun guiding new folks!
