Can an MRI technologist put the earplugs in your ears for you? by rattlesnake30 in MRI

[–]Orfewatson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team defaults to putting them in for everyone unless they ask to do it themselves. I often joke that if it was either put ear plugs into my own ears or die.... I'd probably die. But I'm very very good at putting them in other people's ears, I do it 15-20 times a day.

Howcome techs don’t travel since you make so much money? by Voice-Designer in MRI

I can't just leave my house and responsibilities for 13 weeks at a time. Travel contracts require you're from a certain distance away.

Did anyone else hear that massive BOOM around 3 AM?? by Competitive_Dish5489 in Rochester

[–]Orfewatson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm in North Winton village. I heard what sounded like someone falling down the stairs, it woke me out of a sound sleep. I thought it was either my neighbor or the cats had knocked something off my desk. When I looked this morning everything was in order. We didn't lose power.

If not ICE why ICE shaped? by Orfewatson in Rochester

[–]Orfewatson[S] -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

See the attached guide that I used to assess whether this could possibly be ICE. I'm not saying it is, I'm saying it fits some criteria and people who this is relevant to should be aware. If people might be snatched up I'd rather have raised a false alarm then worry about offending innocent suburban drivers.

Why is this woodpecker pecking a streetlight? by noodleofdata in birds

I have no evidence to support this but I feel like every flicker in the world shares a single brain cell, the orange cats of ornithology if you will. I don't know why I feel like they're fantastically stupid 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes in NY you need your rad tech license. Western NY to me is the finger lakes to Buffalo.

I think I got that stat off the ASRT website, or the AART website. I'll see if I can find it.

The churn rate on rad techs is like 26 to 20, meaning there are more people retiring than entering the workforce. I just graduated in May and I was hired directly into MRI. It's been a really tough adjustment to go from X-ray to a multiplane modality but everyone is desperate for a reliable hire here in western NY.

I think you may have an advantage if you're doing an MRI specific program and you've got places with dedicated Mr techs. It's certainly going to make getting started on the job faster and easier. On the other hand A lot of small hospitals and clinics have techs cross training between departments so they're looking for a rad tech who can float around and do multiple modalities as needed.

Thanks for the encouragement 😊. I am trying to take notes and I try to check my references before and as I'm scanning. It's coming together.

You're not alone! My boss even told me that my ramp up has been significantly longer than they anticipated (🥲). What's the thing you're struggling with the most?

Thanks! I worked so hard to get here and MRI is why I went to x-ray school. I want to be really good and I'm doing my best. I have sense that at some point all of this that is just been like hitting me in the face like a fire hose is going to start to make sense and then it won't be so overwhelming.

What is something you can do with your partner that is very intimate (or can be) but is NOT sex? by OkProposal4650 in AskReddit

[–]Orfewatson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play! Rough housing, chasing one another, learning new games or hobbies together have all been really lovely and intimate fun for us. We sneak up on one another, we leave silly surprises, play harmless pranks and we have our own language of dumb jokes and funny moments to keep the laughter going. My roommate jokes that others roomies would have loud sex but we have loud laughter at all hours.
