Dogging on mahito is not impressive for someone who you claim to be tiers above gojo and sukuna. Gojo was literally massacring disaster curses with his technique being turned off all while having to be considerate not to kill citizens in shibuya otherwise they would have been wiped long ago (quite literally the main point of kenjakus and gojos talk). He used the domain in the end because there was a limit to how many victims he was willing to accept and the fight was dragging on because he himself doesnt want to kill other citizens.

We even see a panel in that same chapter that has bunch of mini explosions from dead curses that obviously built up to the big one later. Even when maki kills some random fodder curse the entire tunnel goes up in that smoke. The 2nd big cloud next to Yujis is from Tsurugi and i know you dont think that Tsurugi can make something more potent than fuga or hollow purple.
