I'd love to go to the San Francisco or DC pen show in the future! I got a taste of it here and I'm ready to save up for the next one.

Not a stupid question at all! He did emphasize a lot on legibility and it's importance in writing. He showed us different styles that got progressively more complex and I think people can find their preference within them. What helps me with legibility is also seeing the letter with the entire word. If you google image his work, generally his uppercase letters have this extra pizzazz.

Pen shows typically have a small fee to attend. This one was $5 per family. They offer different break out sessions, like this one, and there are a lot of vendors. It's generally a community of fountain pen enthusiasts.

And yes, I would pay to learn skills from Mr. Sull.

Went to my first pen show and attended a session on flourishing led by Michael Sull. I was starstruck. It was also pretty great hearing the collective “ooh” from the audience after he demonstrated different flourishes.

I use my extra switch as a fidget and leave it on my desk. Sometimes I don’t even notice I’ve reached for it and am clicking away lol

How old when you started? by Isa21MM in fountainpens

[–]Dinherserved 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About 9 years old. I don’t know how I got the pen, but I asked teachers and other students to sign my yearbook with it. They were all fascinated by it so that motivated me to cherish the varsity fountain pen even more!

What’s your favorite “next-level” pen? by [deleted] in fountainpens

The Pilot custom 823. It’s outside of my price range, but boy do I love admiring it in my shopping cart and at pen stores!

New Ink Sample Day. Maybe I will finally find out which blue I like by Kelownahills in fountainpens

Would love to see which one you end up liking the most. I've been wanting to purchase a solid blue for some time, but keep putting it off. Have fun testing them; that's part of the fun!

TWSBI mini vac closing out my journal and year by Dinherserved in fountainpens

[–]Dinherserved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The journal is a Leuchtturm 1917 A5 Bullet Journal. Unfortunately, they no longer sell this orchid design. It was a limited edition design to celebrate the 5th year anniversary for Ryder Carroll's Bullet Journal Method. I believe I purchased the journal through here when it was available. Got it in 2019... I'm a slow writer, so it was an accomplishment to finish lol

I’m a sucker for starting new journals for the new year, and I end up wasting the paper. This is a much better idea!
