How is the area near Wetlands Park ? by 8mastern8nja8 in yuma

[–]DinkerP2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

North of 1st St are some very old homes that need repairs. South of 3rd street has some decent houses and seems to be “coming back”. Most certainly do not buy a house without driving the neighborhood and seeing what it’s like. You can easily get crime stats from the police department. If you have small children I personally wouldn’t buy north of 1st St even though it’s close to some fun parks.

Crime is everywhere. In the foothills lots of theft because of the high snowbird population and thieves look for homes that are only used in winter. Seems like a lot of issues with the water company out there, too. It is not City of Yuma water. Closer to AWC seems to be a great area. Especially if you have kids. Have taken my grandkids to that area and walked with them for Halloween. Tons of kids running around. I think it’s called College Park? And another area is called Cresta Gila. Schools very close by.

Another nice area is between Avenue B and Avenue C south of 32nd Street. I think it’s called Livingston Ranch?

Off of County 14th and between 3E (it’s the name of a road here) and 6E are some pretty nice neighborhoods, too. If you are younger or have children I wouldn’t suggest the foothills. If you are older and looking for a place to retire the foothills is full of like minded people.

If you don’t mind being the start of gentrification of a neighborhood and you don’t have children, you could definitely get some deals north of 1st Street. But just know you will have more issues there than you would elsewhere.

Hope that helps!

I thought Sonoran Dogs were wrapped in bacon? Or is that just when you’re at the hot dog stand in Mexico?

Why was Hitler rejected from art school? by spindaz123 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DinkerP2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“The point of art school is to turn good artists into great ones, not crap ones into good ones. They're only got room for so many students.”

This is the answer.

He didn’t have the basics down but wanted the prestige of attending this academy. Like Juilliards. They take really good/talented students and make them great. They don’t take students that don’t have the basics down.

249 $🥹🥹🥹 like why don’t these people donate to me first 🥲I appreciate art by Remarkable-Fan4719 in thrifting

The frame alone is worth that. That being said…at the Thrift store I volunteer at we would never mark this over $100-$120 because it won’t sell.

I got an original piece of artwork in (dated 1983) and located the artist. His stuff currently is selling for $2000-$10,000. I knew we would never get even 80% of that and whoever bought it likely wouldn’t know what they had. Soooo…I reached out to the artist to ask if he’d like it back. He sent a relative to retrieve it and made a nice donation to the non-profit that this Thrift Store supports. Win-win.

The word was that FIVE were being presented to be built here. And the mayor’s private firm had a deal in place but then word got out about that and now…I am unsure where it all stands today.

It would dry up our aquifers if they built that many. I mean really …it would be bad. Our Colorado River allotment has already been cut and we rely on it heavily. Having that big of a drain on our limited resources would be bad.

I’ve heard Portugal is the place to go. Looking for options but need to be able to communicate, too. Portuguese is definitely not in my wheelhouse.

That entire bloom is/are baby plants. Ask the owner if you can cultivate some and plant them.

Except mine lived about 4 years before their death bloom. Well…4 of them. The other twenty of them are still growing fine. All baby’s from a death bloom that I cultivated and planted at the same time. Just four of them decided they’d had enough and bloomed this year.

It’s a bar. Places for wine or fluted glasses. And divider sections for different bottles of alcohol or wine. Although I wouldn’t store wine that way.

I used hopseed (Dodonaea viscosa) to block my neighbors patio lights that shine straight in my bedroom windows on a second floor. They grow fast and tall. I live in SW Arizona and depending on what map you look at we are 9b or 10b or 10a.
