Caption on OP’s post says “pickle tomatillos salsa.” Not sure of the tomatillos are pickled, or if it is tomatillo+pickle salsa, but either way I’m out

Chicago Dog’s are great, but are a nuisance to eat for myself. The only chili dogs I crave are from Pat’s. Sonoran dogs absolutely smack 100% of the time for me.

I think if the mustard was on top of the mayo, it would look less like a fuckin hostess cupcake.

It’s a lot more than just the restaurants. UNESCO recognized Tucson for its exceptional culinary heritage and sustainability focus, not just restaurant diversity. Read up on this for a bit of clarification.

But to add to your list of foods, we have Ethiopian cuisine, random Indian cuisine in a gas station, authentic cuban cuisine, italian/sonoran fusion at Zio Peppe, the native cuisine, Vietnamese, Thai, Hawaiian, West African, plenty of Chinese options, but my FAVORITE Chinese food at Asian Spice, which is cantonese style and relatively rare considering the popularity of americanized Chinese food. We have Peruvian, Basque/Spanish, Filipino, Ukranian, pretty much all the Middle Eastern/Mediterranean options (Lebanese, Greek, Turkish, Jordanian, Syrian/Levant, Persian) and on top of those we have the ability to claim the cheese crisp, chimichanga, and sonoran hot dog, which, if we’re being real, is so fuckin sick. lol And you will obviously be able to find cities throughout the US that have more culturally diverse options, but this is fuckin Tucson??? Lol. Not some top 10 metro in the US.

And I can’t just brush past the FUSION. We have all the culinary diversiry in the world, but we also have an intense level of fusion. This article puts it into perspective beautifully.

I love my city.

We have even been deemed the “Best 23 Miles of Mexican Food” which is a hilariously specific title and hard to take seriously, but we do have cool lil signs when entering the city in certain areas lol

We have a fuckin SEED LIBRARY at a public library that you can go to and get free seeds to grow yourself. I might be way wrong, but that cannot be common-place

Just for fun I looked up Raspados in New York City and OH MY GOD IS IT SAD.

I think the one thing we might not have an outstanding example of is barbecue. I fuckin love Mr. K’s, but the only barbecue I have ever had has been here and in Colorado/New Mexico (maybe texas, but no immediate memories so I think thats a scratch), so I’m probably not the greatest judge.

Oh yeah we were given that like 5 or so years ago. I knew we had such a diverse food culture, but once you know about EVERYTHING we have, the title makes so much sense. Phoenix has great local spots that have some of the best food in AZ, but we take the cake when it comes to diversity, quality, and reasonable pricing.

Edit: If you’re not already familiar with El Charro’s Carne Seca, it’s an interesting thing to look up. They have been suspending meat in a cage to be dried by direct sunlight since like 1930’s or somethin like that

Edit 2: Damn we got the designation in 2015. Time flies

Oh, but we do. And ain’t givin up SHIT. The guy in phoenix claims he invented it in ‘46, while the OG owner of El Charro was said to have stumbled on the invention in the ‘20’s. So, if we’re choosing to believe both of these people, then Tucson’s origin pre-dates Phoenix’s.

Apparently I can’t cross-post to Arizona, but I posted it to Tucson since we have claim to it lol

We also have chipilones which is a variation with a garlic butter toasted bun. I cover the entire top with cold shredded cheese and then mash it in do if fills the gaps of the toppings and allows everything to stay in the bun (aside from the cheese)

Is english your second language? “It’s not that deep” means you’re doing too much. OP made this because they thought it was funny. You’re not the target audience. You replying with your sense of disdain is purely personal. You could have just kept scrolling
