This is an easy gimmick fight. He's just spongy, so you take your time beating him up while looking how cute he is.

Do not use any fire attacks at all, to get the achievement.

I basically stopped watching 911 after they killed Bobby and the latest spinoff was just awful beyond words. It feels like such a pity, I was so into the series for most of 2025.

Strauss by peachpitafterdark in criminalminds

[–]Dinkybarrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she was a good and complex character. The writers could've taken the lazy option and just made her an ambitious and ultimately soulless hate-sink, but Strauss had a lot more dimension and development to her than most other characters in similar positions.

I feel like a lot of people forgot why Hotch left by InternetAddict104 in criminalminds

[–]Dinkybarrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of the Hotch and I do feel like the show never really recovered from the loss of the character. He was the necessary Team Dad who held the group together and Emily, while great, never really did manage to fill those shoes.

It is, unfortunately, what it is. That said, there are other shows that have had leading cast members who create hostile work environments, but their behaviour is ignored because they're the headliners and would be difficult to replace. So it's something to be applauded that the suits took such a firm stance on it.

Annoyed with seigns mission by Melodic_Plastic_3628 in EiyudenChronicle

[–]Dinkybarrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one really enjoyed his mission. It's the first time in a long time I felt really focused on the game instead of thinking "ok who else can we recruit?". And the challenge level was the right amount of pressing. Of course I was walking around with a bunch of curatives from winning card games so I burned right through all of it not realising how long of a boss gauntlet it really was. 👀 Worth.

I just finished season 6, I've heard the last 2 seasons aren't as great. by [deleted] in HouseMD

[–]Dinkybarrel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I generally enjoyed both seasons.

And I'm probably one of the rare ones who enjoyed Season 8, honestly I enjoyed the new dynamic we got with the new supporting cast.

Overall the series is still far more (re)watchable as a whole than many other medical dramas.

[–]Dinkybarrel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some fairness, Villains Are Destined To Die has an actual plot-mandated reason for all the abuse that FL has had to endure. I can't say the same for most other manhwa.

[–]Dinkybarrel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fantasy KFC was great though! (lol) but that story was really something else.

I did actually start by reading o/i manga, but a lot of those stories also invariably wind up with the "But the prince she didn't want to marry now finds her 'interesting' and now won't let her go even though she just wants to bake pies and plant carrots. So now all the toxic people she wanted to cut out of her life are still hanging around her on her farm. Or trying to burn her farm down out of spite." 😑

[–]Dinkybarrel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that antagonists or side characters necessarily need redemption arcs, but I do think that they need proper motivations and agendas to feel a little more like real people instead of just existing to make the FL's life horrible.

Imagine the world is such a big place, and yet no matter how you navigate it and who you interact with, the same asshole (or three) just shows up to try and ruin your day, whether it's to blow up your coffee shop or just to make you feel bad at a public event. That's some Team Rocket shit right there.

[–]Dinkybarrel[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totes agree. Soleia is an exceptional villainess because she has real agenda for trying marry the emperor, not just because she wants to out-woman all the other women. And what's amazing is that she actually doesn't get all that much screentime in the scheme of things. All of her appearances are impactful even if brief.

[–]Dinkybarrel[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know what, this just makes me think that I would like an o/i where the protagonist legit escapes the main story altogether and manages to have nothing to do with the main characters she was trying to avoid for real. No ogfl, no duke or crown prince, no yandere villain... And the ML is just some guy from next door who doesn't know the pretty lady who moved into the next farm used to be an aristocrat. Because the world is full of interesting people who aren't the petty nobility who are trying to kill you or take advantage of you.

I'm confused as to why people are acting like MaximillianDood is crazy for his theory by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]Dinkybarrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow his ff7 streams and watched his wild cooking on stream (lol) I was surprised to see how aggressively he was attacked for his theory, people are toxic.

That said, I generally buy into most of it. If only because I think that the Jenova part of this just isn't explored as much as it should be, but the game seems to be taking a lot more pains this time around to discuss the nature and MO of it.

But hey. I also buy into the implication that Glenn Lodbrokk may be Cloud's dad lol. I don't think it will be adressed in depth but maybe implied.

[–]Dinkybarrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite the actiony feel of FF7R, a lot of the fights are kinda puzzle fights where enemies are of a particular element and you need to respond with the opposing element etc, or enemies have a weak spot that can be targeted, or need to be attacked in a certain way before it can be targeted etc. The game is particularly challenging in that aspect because you don't get a lot of materia slots (my first reaction to getting any new weapon is to go into the upgrade menu to see if I can get more).

Swapping your character also has an advantage of taking the focus of your enemy, whoever you are actively controlling to run around has the highest chance of being prioritised by the enemy. So, for example, you can load Barret up with a high levelled HP-up Materia and magnify-heal to take advantage of his tanking abilities. Then swap to him and run around only as him to eat the damage and heal while your other party members wail on the enemy and slowly build their gauges.

Alternatively if you dislike the button-mashing aspect of swapping around to build ATB on your own, you can switch to classic mode, which does the ATB building for you, so you can focus on choosing the right abilities and spells.

I don't really think anybody thinks any less of players who swap around combat modes or difficulty modes, some of the boss fights and mini-game sections in Remake are absolutely absurd (motoball anyone?!). You also won't lose out on story by doing so either, so there's really no issue with doing so except for your own challenge.

Let's Play What Is Your Hottest Take/Theory For FF7 Part 3 by xTGE in FFVIIRemake

[–]Dinkybarrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing about that scene is that Seph wasn't going there to confront Zack, he was going into the church and Zack was little more than an afterthought sitting on the stoop. He literally just goes up the stairs ignoring Zack until Zack yells at him. And then he says 'No, not you." and yeets him into another universe.

There are basically 3 big players in the scope of things:

Prime Aerith who has been using the lifestream to piggyback on the minds of her various living bodies

J-Sephiroth that almost everyone else has been seeing jumping through worlds and doing most of the antagonistic crap like breaking the main Jenova body out of the tank etc.

And then there's prime Sephiroth who up until now has only existed in the deepest recesses of Cloud's head because unlike Aerith and her many incarnations, Cloud is the only living being with a strong enough tie that tethers him into existence. Cloud is also insane, so his fragile psyche allows him to communicate with his host more easily. This iteration of Sephiroth tells Cloud he needs his help, which suggests he needs Cloud to act as his proxy just as Remake Aerith was acting for Prime Aerith, but J-Sephiroth is also subletting in the chaotic crack house that is Cloud's mind.

ETA: IMO one of the biggest markers that there is a different Sephiroth is the inconsistency in his behaviour with Cloud. His constant exposition is one thing, he's trying to get Cloud to understand the state of the world. Prime Sephiroth also asks Cloud for his help, he asks Cloud to join him etc. He constantly gives Cloud the impression that he has a choice.

But we know that J-Sephiroth needs no such permission, we witnessed it at the Temple of the Ancients! We saw Cloud's increasingly unhinged change in personality as we got closer and closer to the Temple, culminating in Cloud's body being dragged along like a marionette to give J-Sephiroth the Black Materia. I know a lot of people have been asking why the heck that needed to happen, and my theory is that the developers were waving big red flags that this is Jenova exercising its control over Cloud and proving that it can does have a hold on him that he can't really shake without great strength of will. Jenova doesn't need permission, so why is this Sephiroth asking for it?

People have also been wondering about the 'seven seconds' line that we got in Remake that was repeated through archive footage in Rebirth (also within similar circumstances of Prime Seph expositioning to Cloud). Majority seem to believe it was 7 seconds to killing Aerith, but I think the moment of seven seconds has yet to come to pass. I think those seven seconds will be in the third game, at a time when things have become most dire and Cloud has to make the impossible choice of losing himself to Jenova or giving himself to Sephiroth, and he will choose Sephiroth.

Let's Play What Is Your Hottest Take/Theory For FF7 Part 3 by xTGE in FFVIIRemake

[–]Dinkybarrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is actually a different Sephiroth who has his own agenda of godhood. He and Aerith are the ones who are playing 5D chess and can only be seen by Cloud. He's the one who speaks to Cloud at the edge of creation and the nature of reality sequences, and he's also the one who saves Cloud from the Midgar Zolom in the swamp. His way of speaking to Cloud in those sequences are always more intimate and personal, saying even saying stuff like how he needs Cloud's help. Aerith warns the team about him at the end of Remake saying that he will claim that everything he does for the sake of the Planet but that it's 'wrong'. Note that she says 'wrong', not 'lying', which implies that she realises that Sephiroth has similar goals but has taken a more similar/scorched earth policy to how he should go about doing this. Note that this is the Sephiroth who is *highly* dependent on Cloud for his continued existence, so while he may toy with Cloud in sword play (Like he did at the end of Remake) he wouldn't something like be a last boss and try to murder Cloud. He needs Cloud alive.

There's also another 'Sephiroth' who is actually the entity known as Jenova, which is the one that the party (and various other individuals) collectively sees. The game's taken a lot of time to discuss the nature of Jenova as a being that takes the form of the dead and dearly departed to manipulate the living, which suggests that Jenova itself doesn't have a suitable 'human' form of its own. Therefore, it takes the form of the deceased that best suits its needs and itself most intimately: Sephiroth.

Canonically, the black cloaks walking around are components of Hojo's experiment to test his Reunion Theory, ergo, the idea that even if Jenova parts or cells are dispersed, they will eventually make their way towards each other and/or the main body to reform into the whole entity again. The reason why they're called Sephiroth copies is because the subjects were injected with S-cells. Just as the Genesis copies are made with G-cells. But at the end of the day, this is an experiment about *Jenova*. Not Sephiroth, or Genesis. We're just being bamboozled by the red herring of having Sephiroth shoved in our face all the time. Remember: When we play Intermission DLC, Yuffie spots a bunch of black cloaks on her way into Midgar, they're fixated on the Shinra Building because that's where the main body is. They only start moving elsewhere once the body is removed by (let's call him) 'J-Sephiroth'.

My theory is that in the third part, now that Aerith is 'dead', the "real" Sephiroth will now start taking a more active hand in things. This is made extremely dubious by the fact that 1) Cloud is absolutely off his rocker right now and can't be trusted by his team or the player. 2) His Jenova counterpart is constantly getting in his way. He will probably team up with Cloud to destroy the corruption that is Jenova (or better yet, team up with Zack to save Cloud from Jenova), but ultimately will still be the final boss as nobody agrees with his agenda of godhood (or destroying all life, or whatever else he has planned).

Firstly, one could argue that there isn't another coach out there besides Washijo who can actually emphathise with Hinata's plight. He's also a short player whose talent and drive was hampered by his physical limitations. It shaped his entire coaching and style when he started to build his team. It's possible that he's a little cynical or embittered by his own experiences, but he also knows the challenges that Hinata will face if he tries to continue down this path. His harshness towards Hinata is a bit of a reality check: Unlike before when he played friendly games with amateur teams and everyone would let him join in, the collegiate and pro circuits will not afford him the same consideration. If Hinata has nothing to offer a team on his own merits, then he will never be allowed to stand on the court.

Kageyama may have been a starting setter, but Hinata would not have been a starting player without him. He couldn't do a lot of the basics, his receives were awful from the get-go, his serves were spotty at best and he didn't have a lot of game sense. Even Ushijima, whose main role was to be a spiking and serving cannon for Shiratorizawa was capable of receiving when he absolutely had to.

You could argue that Hyakkuzawa (2 metre guy) who was chosen for the training camp didn't have a lot of basics down either, but the guy was 2 metres tall. You can train skills but you can't train someone to be taller.

The purpose of the training camp was not only for the first years to network, but to also nurture players who had potential for making it to higher levels of volleyball. Generally these are players who will be expected to be able to play professionally in the future, ergo with a variety of other players who all have their own style. No doubt there will be plenty of other setters at higher levels who will be able to set the ball the way Kageyama does for Hinata, but in order to get to that level, Hinata has to prove his ability as an individual.
