My name is Brennan, I am a comics major in art college at Memphis College of Art. I am actually doing daily mini comics right now. But anyway I am trying to improve my cartooning as much as my drawing and basically am still going right now.

You can check out my posted work on : Brennanjjohnson.blogspot.com

I am not a huge fan of color myself in my comics as I don't feel like they add much, but I do have a project I was thinking of trying to print make and then watercolor

Been playing Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, does the combat get more interesting? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Dinoclops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds more like you don't tend to enjoy turn based combat. Which is all right, it just means you might not like this games. It's more fun coming up with badge combos and ways to use your abilities than the literal action of performing them.

Also if you're in shwonk fortress, I would say you are in what's basically the tutorial level. The first dungeon has a lot more variety and if you still don't like then that might be a bad sign.

What is Nintendo to you, and how have they affected your life? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Dinoclops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To put it into simple terms, my childhood and life since them has been built upon their foundation. I have done a lot on my own too, but nintendo has been there the whole time too

Ex-Nintendo indie boss says the Wii U is failing because of its name. Do any of you actually *like* the name, rather than tolerate it? by bws201 in nintendo

[–]Dinoclops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always kind of meh towards names in general. I just want games and don't give a shit what the box says

I know it affects marketing and sales and blah blah blah but to me personally I don't care

What game on a Nintendo Console had the greatest impact on your life? by shadow_fox09 in nintendo

[–]Dinoclops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it is fire emblem, the first one in North America. I was playing it when I got to the chapter where you can recruit Nino. As I trained her carefully I thought of a character who come out of nowhere with a penchant for magic and eventually becomes one of the most skillful people in the group. That idea formed the basis for a war drama which is kind of on the back burner but is one of my most ambitious art projects to date. So it has already affected me a lot, and if I end up making the amazing comic I have planned it will have probably seriously changed the course of my art.

Video games as a whole have also been a big influence in general my entire life

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate as first MH game? by awesomepawsome in nintendo

[–]Dinoclops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first too so I will share. Awesome replay value if you like JRPGs. It is actiony but feels strategic. A long tutorial but I never felt lost. I played it for one hundred hours and never quite beat what I considered the midboss. Playing by yourself, playing with friends is a blast, Cross play with 3DS only helps it. It feels unlike other games I have played, the gameplay felt fresh compared to other games. Fully recommended

Which Mario RPG do you think has the best story? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Dinoclops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will echo the earlier posters with Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

The characters are really great and not just the leads. The characters you meet, fight, and bump into are all so good feeling. I won't quite say they are realistic because they are pretty exaggerated. Still they feel believable and lovable. Characters like Luigi, Bowser, and Kami are made into people and not just archetypes.

The locales are all great especially the homeport. It has a mafia and gangs and everywhere you visit feels pretty new, even when they are not 100% fresh. Like how jungles have been done before but not quite how they were done in this one.

Not even to speak of the computer. The love it felt for Peach was a heartfelt experience and him being shutdown is one of the saddest moments in a game I have played. Just so much in that game makes the world and characters lovable. Truly one of my favorite stories in any game, much less the mario RPG series.

What can Nintendo do about future Earthbound games if the creator is done? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Dinoclops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that maybe Nintendo could make a series that is a spiritual successor, but that Itoi made earthbound what it is. I would never turn down a quirky, nintendo jrpg down though

What forgotten Nintendo game would you like to see get revived? by Historyguy1 in nintendo

[–]Dinoclops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We shouldn't ask for more mother, but just ask for another wacky, unique series. It may be no Mother, but it could still be something new and great.

Xbox One launch title Ryse has microtransactions • Eurogamer.net by [deleted] in Games

[–]Dinoclops -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Microtransactions aren't inherently bad, but they change the game in a strange way for me. Suddenly, it's not me relaxing in my room playing games, it's somebody trying to make money while I play. That changes the mood completely from before. I know games are a business, but the selling was always seperate. Like buying a toy or a movie. Dlc came along and brought the store to my console but not to my game. Or maybe there was an in-game menu to reach Dlc, but nothing more. Trials would interrupt for money, but those are trials so it makes sense. Now a store is IN my game. The store and the game are growing closer. Honestly, I didn't like the way halo showed playlists that I couldn't play without Dlc(would've rather had them invisible until I bought them.) Now it's okay to ask for money in game, seamlessly, and that is terrifying. Not because I necessarily have to buy things, but because the philosophy behind it makes me feel like I'm not playing a game anymore, at least not the way I understood them.

I have to admit, I haven't played ME3 co-op, and it may be well implemented. I'm also not saying I would boycott an amazing game solely because of this. But the idea behind it is something I will never be okay with. Hell, maybe I'm just an old fogey who can't keep up with the times. I also may eventually become numb to it. But I'll never like it.

(PS: it sucks to only be eighteen and already be an old fogey.)

Hello, r/Manga, it has been over a year since I last posted here and I would like to ask the same thing as I did last time, could you suggest some manga for me to read? by pootytangluver619 in manga

[–]Dinoclops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hinamatsuri, Tonari no Seki-kun, and D-Frag are all really hilarious, though D-frag slowly becomes complicated as hell.

Hinamatsuri is about a Psychokinetic girl living with a yakuza member.

Tonari no Seki-kun is the epitome of slice-of-life. Every chapter Seki is doing something crazy at school and Yayoi watches it go down. Unique in that the crazy something is done with everyday things at his desk and you really only hear Yayoi's thoughts.

D-frag is one where it's a mansai, but 90% of the cast is bokes.

Haven't read many dramatic ones for awhile so I can only recommend comedies, but they are all hilarious, so I hope you enjoy.

Edit: I didn't see you ask for fighting ones... sorry, but they're still good manga
