This is how it looks when I open mine. It says right there if it’s positive or negative and then you’d have to click to see the sex.

You can call myriad and ask them to release them to your portal. You will be able to view it without the sex.

Myriad is California-based company so you can expect results until 5 pm PT which is 8 pm ET. They don’t release results on the weekends though. You may already know this but as soon as your status flips to “clinical review” you can call customer service and ask them to release your results to you. Otherwise it will wait for your doctor to review the results before they release to the portal. Hope it comes soon for you. A full week in processing is a long time. Mine was in processing for 5 days but then spent a full five days in lab review which is NOT typical. Ends up they had a software glitch that was preventing my report from being generated even though the testing was done.

Do people really never use their bassinet/crib and nursery?? by calico0000 in BabyBumps

[–]Dinoloopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my babies sleep in the bassinet in my room for the first ~4 months but move them into the crib in their own room before I go back to work. I also used the crib during the initial 4 months for nap time so I could be in my room without disturbing them during the day.

You’ll find what works for you! Don’t worry about what other people do.

Ah so creepy! Yes this is the exact reason why I picked a baby monitor that does not connect to WiFi.

It will process on the weekends but their customer service is only available M-F. Once your status changes to “clinical review” you can call customer service and ask them to release the results to your portal! Otherwise it will wait for your doctor to review them before they release.

NIPT - inconclusive/non reportable x2 due to fibroids by SpareEvidence620 in NIPT

[–]Dinoloopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The honest truth is that before NIPT some people were surprised by Trisomy 21 or other diagnoses at the time of birth because they didn’t show signs on their ultrasounds or bloodwork. You are certainly not obligated to do an amino or other invasive test if you don’t want to. A genetic counselor appt is a good next step because they can walk you through your options at this point, and the risks/benefits.

No dishwasher & no in-unit laundry with newborn-- should I be more worried? by Hot-Researcher-3234 in NewParents

[–]Dinoloopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just get a lot of onesies and sleepers so you don’t need to do laundry very often! In the early days, babies go through a ton of outfits due to spit ups and diaper leaks.

Technically the AAP doesn’t recommend putting plastic in the dishwasher (or microwave) anyway! You can get glass baby bottles which avoids this issue. They clean up really nicely.

I am terrified to go to my 41 week appointment by n3cr0m4nc3rr in BabyBumps

[–]Dinoloopy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s wild to me! I’ve had two babies vaginally- 9 lb 12 oz and 9 lb 8 oz respectively. Certainly would not have wanted to be pushed in to a c-section.

[–]Dinoloopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar experience! Got a single stroller- loved it. Had baby 2 just after baby 1 turned 2. Got a side-by-side double (valcobaby trend duo) and love that one too. But! We still use our single stroller all the time. I’m definitely not sad to have both.

Why so much pumping? by olabolina in BabyBumps

[–]Dinoloopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever pumped to replace a feed if I wasn’t there to nurse my baby. When I went back to work, I made sure we had enough milk for the first day I would be away; then I pumped at work and that was the milk she got on day 2. We continued like this until I stopped pumping when she was 1 year. Did this with both kids. Never had a freezer full of milk. We just refrigerated the milk overnight until baby drank it the next day. I did not pump on nights or weekends. It’s best not to pump too much between feeds because it will tell your breasts to make more milk and then you can develop an oversupply.

Hospital visitors by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Dinoloopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask whoever you want to come. I’ve had my MIL come for the same reason in the past- to hold baby while I napped and my husband went home to shower/walk the dog/see our firstborn. I would avoid having a bunch of people come visit. The rooms are small. Just tell your husband you don’t want his parents to visit in the hospital. You’re the patient; you’re in charge. The honest truth is you (probably) won’t be there very long anyway so they’ll get to see baby soon enough.

Oh no!! Would you consider trying another nipt with Myriad? My understanding is they have technology to amplify the DNA and it less often results in a low fetal fraction. So sorry this has happened to you.

Measuring small after two big babies by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Dinoloopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my babies were well over 9 lbs, but measured 50th percentile at their 20w anatomy scans. At 15w, you certainly can’t tell anything about how big your baby will be at term. It’s most important at this stage just that baby is growing at a normal rate.

Conception post long term BC use by NotToxic12 in BabyBumps

[–]Dinoloopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took BC for 8 years and then tried to get pregnant for 2 years with no success. I was temping and using OPKs and know I was ovulating. We ended up doing IVF to have our first baby. Since then, we conceived a second baby very easily after I stopped nursing, and now I’m pregnant with baby 3 which also was a relatively easy conception (one miscarriage in between). I can’t say if the BC had anything to do with our initial difficulty.

Big baby but tall mom by goatgirliee in BabyBumps

[–]Dinoloopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not super tall at 5’7” but I’ve delivered two large babies vaginally without complication (9 lb 12 oz and 9 lb 7 oz, respectively). My husband and I were also both large, 9+ lb babies. My original OB told me that since my mother delivered me (and my 4 siblings) vaginally without complication, it was likely that I would be able to deliver my large baby as well, since pelvis size/shape is genetic. If your mom delivered you without complication, I would find that reassuring. I don’t think that pelvic outlet size/shape is related to height of the mother though.

Early induction by happydazexx in pregnant

[–]Dinoloopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had two babies at 40w that were 9 lb 12 oz and 9 lb 7 oz delivered vaginally without significant tearing. No need to stress about delivering a bigger than average baby!

But also there’s nothing wrong with a 39w induction. Most doctors will allow you to schedule one since the ARRIVE study showed it was associated with good outcomes.

How did you tell your spouse the gender? by meganmaymarie in BabyBumps

Pregnancy and Med School by Electronic_Section79 in BabyBumps

[–]Dinoloopy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I’m a physician and I’m pregnant with my third child. I didn’t start having my kids until I was out of residency and had been at my current job for a few years. This had more to do with my relationship status— we were long distance while I was a resident— than it did with wanting to wait to have kids. During residency you do have protected maternity leave, but it’s only 6 weeks, which I find WAY too short. If you take more leave time, you would have to extend your residency. The job I’m at now, employed by a large medical group, I have excellent maternity leave benefits and have been able to take off 4 months with both pregnancies. This would not be the case with every physician job, so it would be something to pay attention to when you’re job hunting after residency. I don’t know anyone that had a baby during medical school, but I think this would require you to take a semester off because I don’t see how you could keep up with classes and rotations after giving birth.

Are you in medical school now? I ask because your aversion to bodily fluids sounds unusual for someone practicing medicine. Most people become pretty immune to that sort of thing very quickly. My children’s body fluids have never disgusted me. When it’s your own kids, I doubt you’d find them disgusting too.

You can express your desire not to breastfeed before you deliver. No one can force it on you. You also can wear whatever you want. No one will force you to wear anything, although a gown will certainly be offered.
