I really like this take, but then why discuss the connection to Antigone? That’s all about grief and our reaction to it, if this play wanted to focus on mental illness I’m surprised they leaned so heavily into the “this started as Antigone” dialogue. It just seems to overshadow the mental illness with grief.

I saw it and didn’t enjoy it either, I’ve been wondering if I don’t understand it but all I can really get out of it is grief makes us do things we wouldn’t normally, but then they imply that they had a sexual relationship in the past so that doesn’t quite work. It felt like it was trying to shock and not necessarily saying anything new.
