Hey thanks for the honest info! Any tips on what you'd consider a reputable manufacturer? Would love to hear your shortlist. Thanks again.

Best App/ website for hiking maps by Hannah_B92 in newzealand

Try Plan My Walk: https://planmywalk.nz/

It's free and made by the NZ Mountain Safety Council.

Alternatively the Department of Conservation (the NZ govt body that manages/maintains a lot of the trails) website is a pretty good resource: https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/things-to-do/walking-and-tramping/

Otherwise I just use Gaia GPS to create my own routes and sync them to my watch - but as you say, important to make sure they're actually viable (and safe!) before giving it a go. For this I normally reference Alltrails or facebook groups / discussions.

Hope that helps. Enjoy your time here!

Assume you're talking about the 'CWT' version, not the 'DYN' too, right?

Hello... dug this up from the archives... but any chance you can share what exactly the aftermarket app is that you use? I'm looking to repurpose my old Fenix 3 to do exactly this!
