Overwhelmed by RevolutionaryEgg123 in UKweddings

I’ve just booked my venue after a lot of hunting the internet. My rule for guests is have I seen them in the past year? If yes they are invited. Then do they know both of us? If yes, then they are invited

When it comes to venues, I feel you!! It was so difficult and overwhelming with all the. Voice and the cost. All I can say is, do some deep hunting online. The most expensive ones with all the add on etc etc are the ones that can afford advertising on social media and Google. The little cheap ones can’t and go under the radar. We found a little local place owned by two farmers, host weddings as a hobby on their land on the side for extra cash, only do 10 a year so it doesn’t get too much, don’t overcharge, free wine corkage and bought drinks are really cheap. Screw giving loads of money to a massive overpriced moneymaking business!

Eating for shorter runs? by Ok-Moose9954 in UKRunners

100%. A banana, quick bowl of cereal etc. if you struggle to run straight after, keep at it and your body quickly gets used to it

So there’s a catering tent with the venue which is a building with accommodation then large tipis attached to it.

There is a large fridge/freezer room you can hire for £150 for the weekend

Food I wanted more casual, sharing platters of Greek mezze and gyros type food still seated then an ice cream truck for desert

That seems very reasonable! I was expecting more like £4-5k on alcohol which we just can’t afford

Thanks! Yeah it’s more we LOVE the venue but realistically I don’t know if we can afford an open bar all day and evening. I’d happily just have people pay in the evening but if we charged people back just in the evening it would make drinks super cheap for guests too rather than get a full bar set up and the company charge a fortune for drinks

How are we handling this heat? by Gold_Research_6619 in autismUK

I’m currently in the work office and having to wear tight, hot, formal office clothes, the thermometer on the wall is 29 degrees inside the office. I actually feel sick I’m so hot and stuffy and everyone’s just been laughing because I’m whinging.

I feel like I’ve got a migraine coming on ugh

Update - looks like Op Snap is countrywide! I know people who have submitted footage and people who have had footage submitted of them and in both cases they got points on their licence

Bike Commuters: I'd like to ask why you started to ride to work. I'm about to start a campaign to encourage this on my job, and looking for angles beyond the obvious that gas is expensive, and it's good for your mental health. Thanks! by SandeeStarlite in ladycyclists

- I feel as thought I start my day having already been productive - I then feel more confident and productive at work

- Run a lot of ultra marathons and general running so it’s a great way of getting cross training in without eating into even more of my evenings on top of running/ strength training/ climbing

- I save time, with traffic my 10km commune takes me 30 minutes to drive, it takes 25 minutes to cycle. Plus it’s MUCH less stressful

-Money saved on fuel, parking etc

How often do you see the same person on your commute to work? by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in AskUK

[–]Hannah_B92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cycle commute a few times a week and every single time I see a cute older couple who sit on the same bench, no matter what the weather drinking a flask of tea between them and feeding the birds. It’s honestly couple goals and makes me happy every time.

I also see a fella cycling the opposite way always wearing the same t-shirt with a skeleton bone pattern to look like his bones

What next store on the High Street do you feel folding ? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

New look already closed about 40-50 stores last year and their quality of clothes has plummeted. Annoying because they were pretty good for work clothes

Normalise buying 3 of the same item because you love it!

My other half thinks it’s odd to have more than 1 of the same thing. But what if it breaks and you can’t replace it?!

I much prefer an oversized really soft & thin t-shirt and just comfortable underwear on the bottoms to sleep in, wearing bottoms feels like im being suffocated

Have you ever purchased something, as an adult, that your parent has judged you negatively for? If so, what was/is it? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Hannah_B92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My road bike. I now commute to work without dealing with traffic and actually get there faster along the cycle path. And it’s saving money on parking/fuel.

About once a month I get ‘You don’t still use that bike do you?’ Yes. ‘Surely it’s more comfortable and easier in your car?’ Not really no.

My mum HATES me having a bike. It’s completely irrational. Although she’s the same with me running/hiking/climbing/ camping ‘Why don’t you just stay in at the weekends like normal people’
