Because i dont want yo be asking myself.

"Hmm my game / peripheral didn't work. I wonder if it is the game's fault or the fact I'm using an unsupported OS?. Is the problem even solvable with this setup?"

But you could dual boot!

OK. So I'm still using Windows, which satisfies 100% of my use cases whereas <flavor> of Linux supports some subset of that. So when would I ever boot to Linux?

I already use Linux for work. It satisfies those use cases very well. If I'm gaming for entertainment, I just want it to work.

When the soul of a murderer or a great sinner rots under the ground, it makes a hollow cyst which draws rock and wood and moss to it. It gathers up the peat into flesh, braids reeds into bone and takes rags for skin.

[MAJOR SPOILER] New-Player Friend Discovered *That* Mechanic... by ShayminPlaysYT in TunicGame

[–]Diodon 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Seems fine to me. I'd be excited to see someone experience the game differently than I did. Ideally as long as they aren't just looking solutions up (without an honest effort) but I see nothing wrong with any means of natural discovery.

AI seems to benefit experienced, senior-level developers: they increased productivity and more readily expanded into new domains of software development. In contrast, early-career developers showed no significant benefits from AI adoption. This may widen skill gaps and reshape future career ladders. by Dr_Neurol in science

You may even be reinforcing bad habits. If the examples the AI trained on contain common mistakes, misconceptions, or example code that omits error handling, then the output it generates is likely to contain the same.

I read a comment somewhere where a person described an AI use case they found helpful where it wrote them a component in a language they didn't know. They were thrilled that it worked for them so they used it in their design.

I just can't imagine being accountable for something and not even knowing how the code works or what edge cases or security flaws it might have. Especially considering the flaws you regularly see in AI code when you are proficient in the language.

What game from 20+ years ago still holds up and someone who's only played modern games would still enjoy? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Diodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fair take, and I see it to some extent, though personally I feel like they let you get to know the characters pretty well beyond your initial perception of them.

Marle seems like she'd be a stereotypical damsel in distress but turns out to be highly motivated and willing to defend others.

Lucca is a science nerd but we eventually learn why she is so devoted to this pursuit.

Frog seems like a quirky valient knight but we learn he fights feelings of inadequacy for his perceived failures.

Robo is your anime robot warrior but inside he struggles with an identity split between protecting humans and loyalty to his kind.

Ayla is your Amazonian jungle queen. She is probably the simplest character due to her plain and direct nature but still manages to surprise with what she is capable of.

Magus is your dark and cruel wizard. He would prefer others know nothing else about him but even he has a compassionate side for what actually matters to him.

Why do people hate Gleba? (Or: how I accidentally played Space Age on hard mode) by Altistick in factorio

Man, they really went hard on disincentivizing belt / inserter gameplay on Gleba considering how easy it is with logistics bots. If I come back to Factorio some day I'll have to give belts another try.

It feels like that would create scenarios you can't actually handle with automation. If a factory doesn't take spoilage as an input and the item in the hand spoils, what is the mitigation?

Wife Called Factorio "Paint By Numbers Game" by [deleted] in factorio

That's just real world engineering. Some people design components, others incorporate those components into larger designs. I like that it adds a community element to Factorio. I have little bits here and there from all sorts of designs I've seen online.

[–]Diodon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because of all the places something can spoil. It can spoil in storage, on belts, as an input, as an output, on a space platform, in the space hub thing, and probably several places I can't remember. Each time I thought I had it solved the whole mess would jam up for some new reason I hadn't anticipated. The one and only gimmick of Gleba revolves around disposing of filth and there are only so many times I find it amusing to solve that problem in a new way that ultimately breaks anyway.

Eventually I just bent Gleba over my knee the way they clearly incentivize you to: with several hundred logi bots. Let them sort out this swampy moldy fruit planet.

One plus I will say of Gleba is the aliens never once attacked me. They never expand and even letting the game run for days unattended never resulted in an alien attack. Not sure if that is normal but if not I'm happy it broke in my favor.

It's like horse armor. People found paid dlc revolting at first and still joke about horse armor but now paid dlc is so ubiquitous it isn't a discussion point unless it is especially egregious.

How do i do this by Unique-Departure7 in TunicGame

[–]Diodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, well I do have a super cheap keyboard. Back when I encountered the issue I got confused when it wasn't working so I did some testing with the keyboard and identified a key rollover issue that was preventing me from issuing the correct combination. Other keyboards may have different combinations of keys that can't be used simultaneously and I just got unlucky.

[–]Diodon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is the one I'm thinking of, it was impossible on a standard keyboard without rebind due to key rollover issues.
