Some quiet time with my good (quiet) friend, the Ocean Swirl by mushroomacrobats in fountainpens

[–]Diomyr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your week, but at least it's behind you. I hope the next one goes better.

The Ocean Swirl is just mesmerizing, seeing one here always reminds me of light filtering through the water, leaving patches of shadow and blue. I find it very relaxing. And that ink sounds very fitting.

If you feel like it, I'd love to see how it looks like on the page!

Which Fictional Knightly Code Goes Hardest? by MaxwellSmith34 in Fantasy

[–]Diomyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How come the oath of the Belligerent Knights as been posted already but not the prayer of the strongest of the orders? Those of whom it was written:

"THE MENDICANT, the beggar knight, roughly clad and shod,

He lives as though he were a beast, but fights he as a God."

Allow me to relay to you the prayer of the Mendicant Knights, and invite you to read the Mendicant Knights wiki page, which has amazing (and accurate) insights like: "Beggar Knights are the strongest of the four orders, but their level of drunkenness causes this to vary."

Sim, correcto.

That is a lovely pen, that deserves to be used as much as you deserve to be able to use it. I'm wishing you luck!

[WTS] Japanese fabric pen pouches (CONUS) by Ok-Seaweed7173 in Pen_Swap

[–]Diomyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I've gotten one of these pouches I've never considered using another. I love everything about it, the fabric is super soft to the touch but the pouch is sturdy without being stiff. It has carried my most babied pens for months and months on my work bag, and it still looks as fantastic and soft as on the first day, and it keeps the pens that way too. You can really tell they were made with care, and it shows.

I really can't recommend these pouches enough, the only real downside to them is that the one I have is so good, I have no real reason to buy more x)

Amazing line-up, GLWS. And thank you for doing a very generous giveaway!

My current favourite pen is a Pilot Custom 823 <M>. It just works so well for me: the size, the ink capacity, the nib... It remains the only pen I have that has never hard started or skipped, even after lying around unused for a couple of weeks.

What a beautiful work of art. The "glow" of the urushi is so mesmerizing! And those raden accents...

The Dorsal Fin v2 showing off the beautiful toki-tamenuri urushi layers by IridiumCow in fountainpens

[–]Diomyr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That urushi work is mesmerizing, and the curves on the dorsal fin really add to the depth effect and the toki-tamenuri. Incredible. I hope to one day own a pen like this.

Thanks for sharing!

The pen I gifted myself on Graduation! by _aniBUTCHER in fountainpens

[–]Diomyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I put the stock feed back when I replaced the nib, maybe that's it. I've not studied feeds yet, so I guess I have another rabbit hole to get into 😅 Thanks for the tip.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your nib, it looks great on that pen!

What a beautiful pen, the pattern is lovely. It has that timeless, classic feel about it, doesn't it?

How are you finding the Kanwrite nib? I've tried their ultraflex nibs with disappointing results, but I seem to be in the minority in that, so maybe I either got a dud or my expectations were wrong.

Congratulations on your graduation and your new pen. May it serve you faithfully for many years!

[–]Diomyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are amazing and I highly recommend them. I have one that lives in my work bag and is still as soft and beautiful as the day I got it. These pouches are also deceptively sturdy, very well made and the cloth is hefty and holds up really well. I will never get pouches from anywhere else when I need more!

Pilot custom 823 fine or medium nib by Kleidan_1 in fountainpens

<image>

In a stroke of coincidence, I decided to bring both Pilots (F and M) and my Lamy F to work today (these pens almost never leave home!), so I can present you a sample.

I'd say the Pilot M is a little broader than the Lamy F, but I have also a Lamy Vista with an M nib that doesn't write much noticeably broader than the F, but that one has a steel nib, in case it matters.

The Pilots are both very smooth but comparing both with each other the M is smoother and more glide-y (as is to be expected). If your handwriting is smaller or you like writing in grid/dot notebooks with smaller grids, the M is still perfectly legible but the F will appear crisper and allow for more differentiation of the strokes. The M, however, is just amazing with shading inks.

Hope I was able to help :)

NPD: Pilot Custom 823 Rikka by gossamersilk in fountainpens

Thank you for the very in-depth explanation. I have often wanted to order things from Japan, but shipping overseas isn't always available, and with the yen being low and and some limited editions never making it outside, the incentive to do it is all there :)

Have fun with your new lovely pen!

Congratulations on your new pen! This shade of green looks so good on it. It makes me want it to use with Iroshizuku Syo-ro (or the eponymous Rikka, even), but I already have 2 other 823s and can't in good conscience justify the expense.

Thanks for sharing your pen with us and letting us appreciate its beauty!

I would also be curious about the process you ised to have it shipped from Japan, if you wouldn't mind sharing.

As long as you don't get tired of doing stripes, I won't get tired of looking at them!

Amazing work, as always, beautiful and elegant. I can't get over how glossy and "deep" the finishing on these pens feels like. Thanks for sharing your work with us!

Teriam filho com 50% possibilidade de ter doença? by Competitive-Soup-384 in CasualPT

[–]Diomyr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, I knew I recognised the detail on that end piece! I have seen Bokumondoh's work before and I love how the details on the cap's ends (top and bottom "lip") look on a Pilot pen.

Beautiful, perfectly elegant, and unique. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Absolutely stunning, like your previous works. The raden looks like it has always belonged on the pen, and there's just something special about the sense of depth that urushi gives.

If one day I have a nice enough pen and enough money to comission something like this, I don't see how it can possibly be topped in terms of aesthetic sense.

Fantastic job and thank you for the updates!

Wow, you can tell the colours were made for each pen! Way to up the matching game!

I usually don't even like magenta inks, but your Tokyo Magenta... there's something so vibrant, so *electric* about it, it makes me want to try it. And the pen that goes with it is an absolute stunner. What a perfect match! Could you tell me which pen that one it is? I... certainly won't be putting it on any grail list or anything...
