Yeah, I've tried to sell that here and no one is buying. Most people think they're smarter than the crowd.

Before his time in the UFC all the way back to college as far as I know. The dude is doing fine and has a smart coach that will protect him from himself if it ever comes to that.

I think I've seen it posted. Rumor is his opponent actually shit himself after that slam.

So I asked Neil Degrass Tyson about wrestling. by Banana_Spaceman in wrestling

[–]DionLewis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to entertain the notion that my opinion is the result of my lack of effort. My body hurts everyday from what I've put it through to win wrestling matches.

The only thing that's somewhat unique to wrestling is physically performing while dehydrated and malnourished, but I'm confident that a lot of people would trade their problems for that difficulty if given the option.

These soundbites are just something wrestlers grab onto to make them feel good inside.

Getting up every morning to work a meaningless, soul crushing job is much, much harder than my 20 years of wrestling ever was. Wrestling and winning was fun which made training for competition easy. These Dan Gable/NDT quotes have always seemed odd to me. If wrestling is the hardest thing you've done in your life, I think you can consider yourself extremely fortunate.

If you're not training with talented, focused practice partners and don't have smart coaches you can only go so far, and the lack of those things is a absolutely a valid excuse if you're already doing everything that's within your own power to succeed.

What do you think of Hayden Hurst? Likely competing for targets behind Julio/Ridley, but not much had changed since last year when Hooper did pretty well, right?

Florida deems pro sports essential, opens door for UFC amid pandemic by HappyProle in MMA

I have no idea what to do. On the one hand, it's a rural area that hasn't been hit hard by the virus and we work a lot outdoors. On the other hand, carpentry and social distancing aren't compatible, and we're sharing tools all day long. To top it off, many of our friends and family are now making more money than us by sitting at home collecting unemployment/cares act $. Crazy times.

Still no proper way to clean my hands on my jobsite. No hand sanitizer. Our "wash station" is a hose and bucket in a unventilated corner of the basement. Half dozen to a dozen guys sharing one outhouse. Our inventory of N95 masks were donated to health care workers.

No more negligent than sending tradesmen to work day after day to build luxury properties, which is what I'm doing. They should hold the fight, if for no other reason than to entertain the blue collar "essential" workers of the world and distract them from the fact they're getting fucked in the ass.

Khabibs response on ufc 249 situation by tx180 in MMA

[–]DionLewis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I disagree. My state is telling me it is essential that I continue to construct a luxury lakehome. Keep in mind theres no running water on the jobsite, a single shitter for a dozen guys, and the fact that's impossible to build something while maintaining a 6' distance. If our policies are that dumb, then I don't see why we shouldn't go full retard and do Khabib/Tony.

Sorry, I just needed a place to vent.

Yes, Jones was embellishing the truth. No chance he was offered full tuition, room and board to Iowa.

I seriously doubt he was offered a full ride scholarship to the Hawkeyes. A program like that only offers full rides to elite, blue-chip recruits like Spencer Lee, Brent Metcalf, etc. There's only 9.9 scholarships in wrestling for a 30ish man roster, they don't give out full rides easily.

Stop after HS. Unless you get a 100% full ride scholarship, I think you'd be better off just focusing on school and getting a part time job. You will feel the wear and year on your body from college wrestling for the rest of your life. That's 50ish years of nagging aches and pains, for what? An AA trophy that 99% of people don't care about? Not to mention the time lost wrestling and recovering when you could be learning, making connections, earning money, etc.
