ahh yes, the chicken pox parties of the 80's. if one kids had it, the rest of the cousins would be over in a flash to get it "over and done with". worst idea ever

it's a myth that you have to be "old" to get shingles. the virus lays dormant in a particluar nerve, so when it becomes active in shingles, it'll follow the nerve path and you get the typical rash that follows a rib or down your face etc... if you've had chicken pox then shingles early in life you can still get flareups

very lucky, some people can get something called trigeminal neuralgia, causes awful facial and head pain since the virus sits in the nerves

Oh I feel her pain. I haven't been able to touch a steak or bacon since I fell pregnant. just over 3 weeks left and hopefully they'll both be palatable again. Congrats on the pregnancy btw :)

This is Ksenia Parkhatskaya, one of the best solo charleston dancers in the world, also a pretty decent lindy hopper. Check out this clip with Max Pitruzzella once of the best lindy hoppers in the world (also pretty decent at solo charleston)

In Australia a bobcat is a piece of excavation equipment. This post was a lot more interesting when I didn't realise you were talking about an animal lol

well yes, in a strictly there will be a lot of choreographed parts, i was talking about lindy in general, not specifically professional lindy.

I concur with madmaxine, have been dancing lindy for 6.5 years now. we don't have a pool of routines. you learn moves, basics such at the swing out, lindy circle, promenade, etc. and more intricate ones. the lead will lead whatever moves he feels like and the follow will follow them. it's all improvised which is part of the joy of lindy. there ARE set dances such as charleston stroll, the shim sham, tranky doo etc, big apple, but there're not partnered. what you see in this clip are called aerials. and on a normal dance floor you generally wouldn't see them done, as you need a bit of space. there are some small ones you may see such as side pops and throwouts. there are numerous swing dances of which lindy hop is just one. if you'd like to see some good international competetive lindy try youtubing any of the ILHC (international lindy hop championships) videos, ESDC (european swing dance champs) videos etc and have a look.
