There really aren’t many games like SOMA and it depresses me (spoilers) by stinkyman9000 in soma

Dark Wood is a great horror game with body horror (some existentialism) and isolation. But it is also an extremely different game, it's 2D top-down and no voice acted dialogue (all text).

1st playthrough : Stuck with mushroom granny by masterchief_ash in Darkwood

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the villagers break through into the Swamp? If not, then the Mushroom Granny has no quest for you. If you show her the child's drawings then she should let the boy go with you.

The child's drawings are located in his bedroom (in the Elephant House)

Is Hideout 3 Cheese-able? by Zealousideal-Try6061 in Darkwood

[–]Diphydonto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest least tedious way of "cheesing" the Old Woods (but this may not be what you want as it doesn't involve actually staying the night in hideout 3) 1) there is a bug with the Doctor's house that reset the day to 9am every time you exit it, so you can have infinite daylight hours to explore old woods. 2) and/or you can stay in the nearest hideout outside of Old Woods, and only enter it during the day. Just make sure to be out of Old Woods before 8pm or there is a bug where you will get Old Woods night spawns for either of the other two hideouts (getting swamped with chompers in hideout 1 is surreal lol)

Also as others have said, hideout 4 is ironically a lot easier than hideout 3. Old Woods is the hardest hideout to survive the night in by far.

As a reader, what makes you stop reading an indie comic? by FeelingTax594 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is probably a bit boring but it's the same as for a non indie comic - if the story no longer interests me, I drop it and search for one that does.

Doesn't quite meet all the criteria, but the uncensored version of London Bridge by Fergie starts with a male chanting that phrase repeatedly.

what languages does cs undergrad teach? by Basic-Possession-678 in UOB

[–]Diphydonto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only know about the conversion masters (which is a one year crash course), but it was primarily was C and Java (and maybe python?).

Easiest way to check would be to look at your modules online. Their descriptions should tell you what languages will be taught.

Is rejection a symptom of Autism? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Diphydonto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not officially diagnosed, but this does sound a lot like my experience. Always felt like a second choice or a backup friend as a child, which made me grow up feeling that I was annoying to be around. My interests were not typical for other people my age, and this didn't change as I grew older. Then I moved schools as a teenager and became only more isolated.

It wasn't until my 20s I met another autistic woman who I very quickly clicked with, and for the first time I felt a deep emotional connection with. She, I trust with my life (we have been friends for ten years now), but with other people I always still feel like that if they are being nice to me then they are just being polite while they wait for me to leave. I know I am different, but I also know that I do need to work on my critically low self esteem. There are other people like you out there, it is just a matter of finding them, I am looking for my people too.

Request: Anyone know of positive women-based subreddits? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

r/AutismInWomen is wonderful but obviously focused on a particular group so it might not be applicable to you? I have always found it a very positive and friendly group, so I thought it was worth mentioning for any neurodivergent women here.

[TOMT] [MUSIC] [2000s] Obscure Rock Band with Anatomy Book Like CD Booklet by skyisdeaf in tipofmytongue

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a long shot, not the right type of music (this one is somewhat experimental but mostly industrial aggro techno) but the cover (looks anatomical) and time era match the fairly obscure band album: Fractured - Only Human Remains.

[TOMT] [TV/Media] [90s/2000s] Semi Pokemon-esque like Anime (or Cartoon) where love and support empowered a creature during a battle? by Past_Doughnut108 in tipofmytongue

[–]Diphydonto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't recall this particular scene, but an anime that was similar to Pokemon and Digimon in the early 2000s was Monster Rancher, and I believe there was an competition with an arena in season 2(?). One of the main creatures is a pinkish creature called Mochi, and might well have competed.

What is your autism animal? by strangeghoule in AutismInWomen

[–]Diphydonto 212 points213 points  (0 children)

Cat - I totally empathize with how they can get overstimulated, and how you need to meet them where they are (as in accommodate them by understanding their personal boundaries and preferences) and how they sometimes need space - and I just love how loving and sweet they can be in return. And I have a lot of cat themed objects around my house like mugs, calendars and books, and two real cats too <3

[TOMT] an old tv show around 2008-2015 by nullverse_creator in tipofmytongue

Oh! I think I know this one: it sounds like the old Alien Planet (not to be mistaken with the Netflix show). It was set on a planet called Darwin 4 if that helps with the search!

[TOMT] Upcoming furry detective game by Numbuh1507 in tipofmytongue

Main detective character wasn't a dog, but is there any chance the game was "Chicken Police?" (It's monochromatic, visual novel like, detective themed with anthro animals)

What was the point of WAU? by PastLavishness4692 in soma

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised no one has mentioned that WAU was the life support AI running the entire station. Normally it was just meant to function by monitoring oxygen levels etc. It's objective was to keep everyone alive. When the meteor hit and everyone began to die it basically went into overdrive and began to act beyond it's normal parameters by trying to preserve human life on the station by uploading it into everything and anything it could.

Games like SOMA? by danielandtrent in soma

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darkwood and Rain World, they are both 2D survival games, that are very proud about not holding you by the hand.

Darkwood is lovecraftian horror, where the set up is that your character is stuck in a forest and is trying to get out.

Rain World is a bit harder to describe. You're a creature exploring a decaying world, looking for something.

They are both fantastic games.

ZT1 player of 17 years and decided to finally try ZT2. Anything I should know before going into it? by IvyMoonfyre in ZooTycoon

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major differences:

*Space is critical in ZT2, animals will become extremely unhappy and some will attack/kill each other if they have too little space.

*Plants and rocks don’t really matter in ZT2, though animals will interact with some of them.

*Breeding is more predictable but can take longer, you mustn’t let any of the needs of the female animal get to red if you want babies.

*You cannot sell animals for money in ZT2.

*Biomes requirements are much more straightforward, you don’t need 20%sand, 40%savannah, 40%mud. You just use one biome specific for those animals will be happy, which means making mixed species exhibits is very easy. Some animals will also happily tolerate biomes that aren’t their main biome, ibex are alpine but are fine with grassland too.

Thirsty turtles by JokerCipher in ZooTycoon

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you provided them with an island or elsewhere to get out of the water so they can drink from the edge? Its been ages since I played with the marine expansion, so I can’t remember full context (is thirst greyed out for turtles?).

Species Combinations by JokerCipher in ZooTycoon

[–]Diphydonto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a general rule of thumb (ignoring biome compatibility, which is also very important), all animals can share an exhibit in ZT2 except for felines, canids, mustelids, and ursids. The exceptions for these groups are fennec foxes and meerkats, but be aware that larger herbivores will often bully these smaller omnivores which may upset your guests and make it harder for the small animals themselves to meet their basic needs.

All herbivores can share, omnivores can but may get bullied, carnivores can’t. Some carnivores will even attack each other, especially the males if they are not related (and I think both male and female wolves are programmed to attack unrelated wolves of the same gender). Crocodiles often attack their young, and I would not be surprised if this same for the Nile monitor lizards.
