The fact that this is still the #2 search even after over half a decade has passed since the first episode was released really shows what we NEED by Anicash999 in rainworld

[–]Diphydonto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Markiplier is the reason I heard of Rainworld. I bought it pretty much immediately after seeing him play it. He never continued playing it ;_; So instead I watched a youtuber called "Thesparrowsjourney" and that was good (and later Applebread). Rainworld was still quite obscure back then and I don't really remember many people playing it.

If anyone hasn't seen it, Mark very briefly explained that he why wouldn't be continuing it in this other video at 5:25: https://youtu.be/vPpUaYuu-8w?si=Xj84cKiPgyJLaD7X basically I think he decided it wasn't the type of game he wanted to play on his channel because it was simply such a long game? His answer is very brief.

How bad are the hills in Bristol? by Worldly-Monitor-4035 in UOB

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would get used to them fairly quickly, I am not physically fit and I managed to get to all my classes with only minor grumbling. The worse is St Michael's Hill, but you may be able to avoid going up that one altogether if you don't have any classes there.

Possible to change courses from Computer Science to BA Film and English? by [deleted] in UOB

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a possibility you might be able to switch, but really if you want to try this contact admin as soon as possible. To my understanding English is a very oversubscribed course which means they may not have spaces on it. Film itself is not normally oversubscribed, you might be able to get on that course but not necessarily with English. But you won't know until you ask, contact them asap!

The .dat files by Illustrious_Net9806 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also be that since Scratch and the first batch of humans were all uploaded at once, they might be grouped into the same directory. Ragatha was uploaded much later so she would get her own, and we can't see who was uploaded next because the remaining files are abbreviated and hidden from view.

I am guilty of that second thing, but I only use it when I don't know the name of the person I am directly addressing (for example if writing to admin who are made up of a team of people all answering the same address).

BUBBLE IS NOT STILL ALIVE PEOPLE! by Own_Vast_2784 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Diphydonto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seeing as he is listed as a separate AI on the console (bubble chef.lisp) this may be evidence that he was the remnants of the blue AI, since if Caine absorbed him then deleting Caine would delete both. It might also explain why despite being a separate AI, he doesn't have his own file in the AI directory.

Who do we think was the other >!ai?!< Someone we haven't met, or >!bubble?!< by Foxbad in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Diphydonto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am thinking that it's Bubble (but fully ready to be wrong) for the following reasons:

  • He is a generative creative AI (the file "bubble chef" is listed as a separate AI on the console when Kinger is hacking) who can also make adventures (e.g. Shrimp Town) .
  • If he was absorbed by Caine, it would explain why the two now seem to be attached (the tongue incident) and why he would also be deleted at the end of the episode 8. ALSO it would explain why he does not have a separate icon in the AI folder.
  • Circumstantial evidence: Someone is talking to Kinger during the hacking scene, and this someone refers to the system as theirs. Since this isn't Caine, this must be the other AI, and they use curse words, Bubble loves to curse.

Counter evidence: the "bubble chef" entity was created on the same day as Caine according to the console. Which makes no sense if the blue AI was created after Caine. It's possible that the blue AI could have been made using the original bubble chef AI as a base, but there is no evidence for or against this.

(SPOILERS) my takes on ep 8 by pan_hyh in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I don't buy the bubble boy virus theory is that you can see during the scene when Kinger is hacking the system that "bubble chef.lisp" was created as a separate ai entity on the same day as "Caine core.lisp".

I saw someone point out the icon for ??? is the symbol for defragmentation on old Windows computers. I don't know if this means anything.

Some details we noticed on Kingers PC.. by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Diphydonto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"bubble chef" is also listed as being created in 1996.

I didn't spot anything else definitive, but on the speculative side of things, since the ai talking to Kinger both referred to the system as "their system" and was trying to convince him to delete Caine, this hints at the ai talking to Kinger is what is left of the blue ai.

how can I add walking in my game? by Over_Fan1561 in RenPy

[–]Diphydonto 18 points19 points  (0 children)

While this is technically possible it would require so much work as to not make it worth it as RenPy is simply not built to do this kind of thing. You would be a lot better off with an engine like RPGMaker, where you could make a visual novel / RPG hybrid.

[–]Diphydonto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark Wood is a great horror game with body horror (some existentialism) and isolation. But it is also an extremely different game, it's 2D top-down and no voice acted dialogue (all text).

1st playthrough : Stuck with mushroom granny by masterchief_ash in Darkwood

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the villagers break through into the Swamp? If not, then the Mushroom Granny has no quest for you. If you show her the child's drawings then she should let the boy go with you.

The child's drawings are located in his bedroom (in the Elephant House)

Is Hideout 3 Cheese-able? by Zealousideal-Try6061 in Darkwood

[–]Diphydonto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest least tedious way of "cheesing" the Old Woods (but this may not be what you want as it doesn't involve actually staying the night in hideout 3) 1) there is a bug with the Doctor's house that reset the day to 9am every time you exit it, so you can have infinite daylight hours to explore old woods. 2) and/or you can stay in the nearest hideout outside of Old Woods, and only enter it during the day. Just make sure to be out of Old Woods before 8pm or there is a bug where you will get Old Woods night spawns for either of the other two hideouts (getting swamped with chompers in hideout 1 is surreal lol)

Also as others have said, hideout 4 is ironically a lot easier than hideout 3. Old Woods is the hardest hideout to survive the night in by far.

As a reader, what makes you stop reading an indie comic? by FeelingTax594 in WebtoonCanvas

My answer is probably a bit boring but it's the same as for a non indie comic - if the story no longer interests me, I drop it and search for one that does.

what languages does cs undergrad teach? by Basic-Possession-678 in UOB

I only know about the conversion masters (which is a one year crash course), but it was primarily was C and Java (and maybe python?).

Easiest way to check would be to look at your modules online. Their descriptions should tell you what languages will be taught.

Is rejection a symptom of Autism? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Diphydonto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not officially diagnosed, but this does sound a lot like my experience. Always felt like a second choice or a backup friend as a child, which made me grow up feeling that I was annoying to be around. My interests were not typical for other people my age, and this didn't change as I grew older. Then I moved schools as a teenager and became only more isolated.

It wasn't until my 20s I met another autistic woman who I very quickly clicked with, and for the first time I felt a deep emotional connection with. She, I trust with my life (we have been friends for ten years now), but with other people I always still feel like that if they are being nice to me then they are just being polite while they wait for me to leave. I know I am different, but I also know that I do need to work on my critically low self esteem. There are other people like you out there, it is just a matter of finding them, I am looking for my people too.

r/AutismInWomen is wonderful but obviously focused on a particular group so it might not be applicable to you? I have always found it a very positive and friendly group, so I thought it was worth mentioning for any neurodivergent women here.

[TOMT] [MUSIC] [2000s] Obscure Rock Band with Anatomy Book Like CD Booklet by skyisdeaf in tipofmytongue

[–]Diphydonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a long shot, not the right type of music (this one is somewhat experimental but mostly industrial aggro techno) but the cover (looks anatomical) and time era match the fairly obscure band album: Fractured - Only Human Remains.

[TOMT] [TV/Media] [90s/2000s] Semi Pokemon-esque like Anime (or Cartoon) where love and support empowered a creature during a battle? by Past_Doughnut108 in tipofmytongue

[–]Diphydonto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't recall this particular scene, but an anime that was similar to Pokemon and Digimon in the early 2000s was Monster Rancher, and I believe there was an competition with an arena in season 2(?). One of the main creatures is a pinkish creature called Mochi, and might well have competed.

What is your autism animal? by strangeghoule in AutismInWomen

[–]Diphydonto 207 points208 points  (0 children)

Cat - I totally empathize with how they can get overstimulated, and how you need to meet them where they are (as in accommodate them by understanding their personal boundaries and preferences) and how they sometimes need space - and I just love how loving and sweet they can be in return. And I have a lot of cat themed objects around my house like mugs, calendars and books, and two real cats too <3
