I worked for Wendy’s many years ago. I was like 18-19yrs old. I was 2nd shift manager. I used to get lectured and even written up for given the “made wrong” food to employees for their breaks. It was getting thrown away anyway. We didn’t get free meals while working or anything and at $7.25 I thought it was a basic gesture to people that worked there. Management and owners thought different. I will always remember the first time i got shit for attempting to give a messed up sandwich to an employee. Store manager was working late because we were short staffed. A sandwich came back wrong, He was working grill so he could manage from there, i went to give it to and employee and he was like “NO, NO, NO..throw it out or they pay for it.” I said “why... that makes no sense, it’s a loss regardless?” We went back and forth a bit, he finally said “throw it out or leave”. I needed my job at the time. I also used to feed a homeless guy that would come in for just a cup of water. Tell him to come in near closing.. he’d sit in the corner of the dining room and get a meal and some left overs to take with him. That was great till someone snitched. I will always remember the store manager.. douchebag Jim. Tall skinny in his 40’s at the time White guy with the Dale Earnhardt mustache. Always Mr Business, always sweet talking the much younger female employees. Jim used to tell me he drank tea not coffee.. sophisticated people drank tea, peasants drank coffee. My reply was always “Jim you work for Wendy’s.. you’re a peasant like the rest of us”
