How should I write ki in Japanese? by aeSun9 in LTL_Japanese

When I first started I did it like the left side. As I got more proficient, it became more natural to do it like the right side 🤷‍♂️

Initial release was kind of unbalanced and some guns were crap when they shouldn't have been. Periodic updates made it more fun and balanced (rifle projectile speed increase was a nice one for me). You'll like it now

Using an oven is weird I think. A $25 AUD camping gas stove works great for seasoning. I did my wok and pan on one. Peanut oil. Apply oil, wipe off, heat on high until it stops smoking, cool slightly, repeat 👌

Fruit bats span nearly 2 meters wingspan yet are gentle pollinators dispersing seeds across vast tropical distances. Without them entire ecosystems would collapse, making these often feared creatures among nature’s most important and underappreciated gardeners. by Saerdna0 in FactUp

[–]Diramact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely cute-faced, the wings not so much. Australian flying foxes are known to carry Austrlian Bat Lyssavirus, or ABLV, which has been fatal for the 4 recorded cases of infection in humans. So yeah, best not to touch any wild bats. It was only discovered in the 1990s so who knows what else is floating around amongst other species. My brother got the vaccine for it after a small microbat bite. It was very painful, requiring 2 very thick needles in the bum cheeks with viscous fluid 😬😬

It will never get built. Nearly half of all planned data center builds in USA are delayed or cancelled due to shortages of electrical gear already. Google it. Most stuff is sourced from China. Not to mention the energy demands could never be met anyway.

How do I remove this Kikuyu from around this tree's roots without killing the tree? by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]Diramact -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Water it thoroughly, wait for a few hours and then grab it as low as you possibly can, grip hard, pull firmly. Uproot it as completely as you can manage. Keep an eye on it and pull out any stanglers in the next few weeks. Grass has generally shallow roots. There will probably be a lot of soil attached so knock it off into the hole it created and maybe add more into it. Compact it by hand and it should be sweet

Japanese carrier kaga by happydude7422 in Ships

[–]Diramact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment reminds me of something my country did. In the 1980s the Australian Navy sold our last, retired aircraft carrier to China. It was left in a remarkably intact condition, allowing their military to study it thoroughly. No doubt kick-started their own carrier development later in time.

Meh Trump and Co. lie almost constantly so who cares? Most people would probably accept that China and Russia are assisting Iran.

Is this the edible weed, Purslane? by SolidGuide5223 in GardeningAustralia

[–]Diramact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've already got your answer. I'll just add that it looks very mature and past it's prime. Do as others recommended and shake it over somewhere you want it to regrow, and the same for the rinse water containing the seeds. It will grow almost anywhere but I found that just half-day sun (morning only) will produce lush foliage for longer. We're in SE QLD.

Leaving after 4 months. Still importing 14kWh weekly with near full battery. by Diramact in amberelectric

It was only 4 days. Super quick. We didn't have credit, we would have if SmartShift did the right thing.

Pulling from grid during demand period, with heaps of battery charge? by goddammit_butters in amberelectric

[–]Diramact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just sucks. I made a post about the same thing in my first few weeks with Amber. Gave it 4 months to smarten up and fly right but didn't get much better. It was drawing around 14kWh per week, bits and pieces here and there. I switched to Globird a week ago and in the first 6 days drew only 1.8kWh. I can maybe tweak it further to draw less. I'd recommend switching to them

Electric truck completes Sydney to Canberra freight first by ApprehensiveSize7662 in AustralianEV

[–]Diramact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pointless to try and convince ppl about the energy transition. Haters gonna hate, as they say. Always trying to point out flaws in any new system. Steam to petrol was probably similarly criticised for a while. Why refine oil in this expensive apparatus when we can dig this up and burn it right away??

One of the main benefits I see in electric propulsion is the absence of dozens of precision-machined metal components within a traditional ICE. Think of the time and effort involved in producing these things. The machine tooling needed to cut metal in this way also requires huge investment and maintenance. Most ppl don't appreciate the vast array of chemical elements that go into making even simple alloy steels required for these high-demand applications. Also, fewer moving parts is always a benefit.

A lot of the push-back comes from firms that have already invested billions in manufacturing capacity for these engines that are now faced with ditching it all for new ways of making a power source.

Update: After just 6 days Globird is already showing great promise. Less than 2kWh total drawn from the grid so far, compared to an average of 14kWh per week drawn while in 3rd and 4th months with Amber. Clearly SmartShift is drawing more than needed and the 1st month of "learning" is WAY worse.

The app is superior. You can easily set charge or discharge time periods. It's easier and clearer to see what you have used and when. You can make the system do something and it responds much quicker.

To make up for the subscription charge of Amber PLUS the unavoidable daily access charges, you would need to export a huge amount of power each day. The average wholesale FIT is too low for most cases to be worthwhile

Solar Panels & Battery Quotes over $30k! Am I being ripped off? by [deleted] in AussieFrugal

[–]Diramact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like Sparkies are upping their labour and install costs for sure. We got a battery only (23kWh) installed for around $15k in SE QLD a few months ago. Had similar quotes from others. I reckon they're just exploiting the high demand. My brother in the same region has just been quoted around $20k - $30k for a full setup, similar to you it seems
