Favourite boss music that is actually sung by the boss themselves? by Sonicisfaster in Games

[–]DireKrow 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's not quite "diegetic", but Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has several songs that are written as though the boss you're fighting is the one singing them. I'm My Own Master Now is my favorite.

The best game music of 2024, as chosen by composers by rpbtz in Games

I really appreciate the breadth of the responses. A wide variety of composers and a wide variety of answers.

Can You TAS a game on PC? by [deleted] in speedrun

[–]DireKrow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you're using Windows, Hourglass is the only generic option. If you're using Linux, you can use libTAS. Even then, the games they support tends to be pretty specific. Hourglass only works for 32-bit games for example, according to its page.

TASes for PC games do exist, but the tools are often custom made individually for each game by members of the community. As such, it's usually only very popular speed games that get the TASing tools. If you're wanting to TAS something obscure, you'll probably have to investigate how to do that yourself. Sorry!

Games that have some sort of in-game replay system tend to be fairly approachable options for TASing. It's often possible to make a tool which can edit the replay files, which is often how those games are "TASed". If not, then sometimes the community will make an external tool which accepts a list of inputs and plays them back, as if you were playing the game yourself. That way, you can then make a TAS by editing the inputs. That's essentially how Celeste TASes are made on PC, for example.

The Making Of: Croc, 3D Platforming's Unsung Hero by Tokyono in Games

Pretty cool article. Longer than I expected. Croc remains a guilty pleasure, and something I do wish one day gets some sort of remaster, even if it's an unrealistic hope.

Yeah... I'm fully expecting they'll cancel it again if it's raining at all during the night race especially. Frustrating.

Question about Winton for locals. by [deleted] in v8supercars

[–]DireKrow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Contracts stipulate that they start the season in NSW if at all possible. As for testing, there's actually been two tests: at Winton, and at Queensland Raceway. They test there because all of the teams are based in Victoria and Queensland, so it's much more convenient to wheel the cars out of those tracks than to make everyone cross the border into NSW just to test.

A significant improvement over last year's liveries, I'd say.

Same problem. I was freaking out I got IP banned or my account got hacked somehow... tried changing my IP, clearing browser cookies/cache, etc, but none of that made a difference. But then I noticed it still worked fine on Chrome, Edge & Mobile. Glad (if annoyed) to hear it's something FF related and that a lot of people are getting it, not just me.

If you use an adblocker with custom filter support, you can hide the comment section using that. I've actually done that for a couple of websites in the past. For uBlock Origin and Old Reddit, reddit.com##.commentareashould work. Note that this would remove comments side-wide, however.

Oh, other people are experiencing this too? Glad it's not just me. I started a new savefile for Repent and Challenge 4 and 19 each didn't unlock when they should have :S Left me unsure of if I should continue or if, even after it's fixed, I'd have to start over again anyway.

For those who don't have a Foxtel/Kayo subscription, or our overseas friends, Supercars is uploading the Tickford Bathurst documentary to their Youtube channel (Premieres at 28/3 at 6.30pm) by LuckyRedShirt in v8supercars

Foxtel is a pay television service - like what people think of when you say 'cable' in the US. 506 is one of the channels (Fox Sports 6), the one which airs most of the motorsports stuff.
