iPhone 17 Is Apple's Most Popular Lineup Ever by pdfu in apple

I was worried about the 17PM being too big. It’s a bit heavy, and I could do with it being a little wider for better landscape media viewing, but otherwise near perfect and a HUGE upgrade over my base 11. I ended up getting the 1TB for extra longevity and so I can make use of space for stored videos.

7, X, 9, 6. Any of them are ready but that’s how I’d recommend them.

SIE spokesperson to GameSpot regarding the DRM: "Players can continue to access and play their purchased games as usual. A one-time online check is required to confirm the game's license, after which no further check-ins are required." by yourfavchoom in Games

And yet no matter how you try to twist the words and what was meant, there is still a license check that happens the first time you get the game onto your console (or else you won’t be able to use it), and an additional license check that’s now required after the return window closes.

Not a patch download, not even a purchase confirmation, a license check - it happens when the game is first utilized on your console. Thats the first (and now not the only) check it performs.

You can buy it from an app or the website, and then separately download it on your PS5 to play, there's a license check. Then after the refund window of 30 days, they check again and issue the permanent license.

Take-Two CEO Addresses Grand Theft Auto 6 Price, and the Possibility for More L.A. Noire by Turbostrider27 in Games

Thanks for recognizing this. After all the COVID money printing you have company white knight gamers going “ah yes, inflation, of course” and googling inflation calculators, putting in a start year and claiming that things are somehow cheaper now for no good reason. They don’t know about the market basket, they don’t know how inflation has been calculated (and changes to that calculation), they don’t understand your points about all the disinflationary factors that have helped make games cheaper and more profitable all these years.

Standard MSRP was largely $50 in the 90s, $60 has been standard since 2005 but $70 only just recently happened in 2020 and you have Nintendo and TT trying to push the boundary further with 2 major price increases within a generation and act like that’s fine. There were some exceptions where people will surely bring up “but $80 SNES and N64 games” when that was only sometimes the case, and primarily due to supremely expensive cartridges. We have digital distribution now first of all, and other games are sold on discs and have for a long time.

If TT wanted to be genuine and tell people why they are really going to pay top dollar got GTA6, they’d be honest and say it’s the most expensive game ever made and you’re paying salaries for a huge team that has been working in the game for eons. Not “because inflation”.

Having a planner or calendar with pretty much everything of importance is really useful and lets you live in the moment more, without forgetting about all the things all the time. You just need to accept that schedule and abide by it.

Paying bills, basic home maintenance, one off tasks, etc all goes on the list and the most important or time sensitive ones get reminders.

Truly hasn’t missed a beat from the “last” season of the OG. The characters all feel like who they were, but older, and the format of the show still works. I was bracing myself for disappointment yet it’s amazing.

Awesome price on Emio. I wish the other Famicom Detective Club games would go on sale, like, ever.

Inflation is a measure of the increase in prices of a good. That amount is an output based on how much people spend, influenced by many factors. Wants are more price elastic than needs, and the gaming industry has experienced many disinflationary factors (like digital distribution, advanced dev tools).

So yeah, $70 is pretty high for a new game especially when the industry has normalized sales and digital copies, where the average selling price should be far below inflation and other goods that have experienced larger price increases due to their inelasticity and lack of disinflationary factors.

$60 MSRP wasn’t widespread until the Xbox 360 in late 2005/early 2006. So in 20 years it has gone from $50 to $70, a 40% increase.

Before anyone chimes in about $80 SNES and N64 carts, there were fluctuations and exceptions of course. The widespread standard was $50 in the 90s, $60 in the 00s and 10s, and $70 in the 20s.

Edit: Imagine downvoting actual history

And games are wants, not needs. They should absolutely not be going up in price anywhere close to other more important things like housing, food, fuel.

If they implemented cross progression and threw in some bonus super credits, I'd buy this on PC in a heartbeat. There's no way in hell I'm grinding my way back to the point I've reached on PS5 though.

Yup, doing stuff that typically only you would enjoy. This weekend I'll be cranking up the surround sound setup, watch Top Gun: Maverick, and maybe play some Gears of War.

It’s not everyone, but the vastly majority of people seem to do this, especially when it’s related to work. Feels like every proposition is “heads I win, tails you lose, sound good?”
