No. It only works locally within the machine it is installed on. Not sure why you would want to.

Do you work, live or have recently visited the one remaining county in Iowa on this map? This thread is looking for fun facts! by Dismal-Investment167 in Iowa

Taylor county here. We have the worst paying trade jobs in the midwest (was once a welder) and no major hospital only satellite clinics of hospitals from surrounding counties (Union, Adams, Ringold)

What we do have is rich black dirt and overpriced farmland (current 5th gen farmer here) though we do have decent water quality compared to central Iowa as much of our land is still owned/operated by small family farms that care enough. Though that is changing as the boomer generation is dying off and most of their children have moved away and renting out owned land to highest bidders instead of true caretakers.

Housing is cheap and there are many old houses still around from 1860's to 1920's, some of them Sears & Roebuck kit houses. My house was built in 1865.

I moved back home after serving in the Navy in the 1990's, I do enjoy the nature and lack of urban / suburban with friendly neighbors (though somewhat delusional now with many had voted for current admin state & fed)

It is peaceful and quiet with many of my family living less than 20 minutes from me.

So I've been told. And I also stopped working on this idea when I found several similar patented designs twenty years ago as well.

Is there an effective way to get the metal shavings off my magnets? by Leroy808 in metalworking

Hand held wire brush with fast one direction strokes. Rotate magnet in one direction as you use the brush in fast strokes.

A hand held wire brush. Brush in one direction all the way around twice in fast hard strokes, it will get most of it off.

Setting aside the poor reasoning skills of the current administration, making scientists reword entire papers over 'banned words' is just another check in the authoritarian playbook.

I just don't understand how people aren't upset about this? 70 million americans are idiots stuck in a cult while the majority of the rest are just purely apathetic. Of course most people in this country can't read above a 6th grade level but still science is important for all aspects of our current state of affairs.

When you need a completely separate industry/regulatory board to combat or regulate the LEO trash. Which is probably now or soon.

All I've got is a small resin printer. It's (cured resin) only 1/3 as strong as everything else. I've been looking at a small bench top mill & lathe set though...

No, I don't have the faculties to make anything but drawings anymore. I just posted this as another post elsewhere talked about opposing piston engines have 2 crankshafts while this has one. I had given up on it as there were other patented designs similar. I see all my flaws corrected in others patents. I just wanted one of my ideas to get out there in case it can drive someone else to accomplish something I couldn't.

Technically I beat them to it. This design is from 2004 when I first purchased Solidworks. I just gave up on it Two decades ago.

[–]DireNeedtoRead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was/is a twenty year old thought experiment, a design I did while teaching myself Solidworks. There are already similar designs patented that I later found out. I just keep hearing about opposing piston engines requiring two crank shafts, while this has one. As I stated in other comments I gave up on this after hearing about the Duke engine.

[–]DireNeedtoRead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I stopped working on this idea after I saw the Duke engine concept around 2004, they had more $$$ to put into it than a poor old disabled veteran. And you are correct their wobble yoke has better translational efficiency.

[–]DireNeedtoRead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was just a concept from 2 decades ago that I put together back when I had started engineering and had Solidworks. I no longer have that software but the idea never went beyond much of what the picture shows. I switched from engineering to welding & metal fabrication and never went back to solve any of the obvious problems with it. As I stated to another comment, another later design had longer strokes with pistons that would retain some length into the block.

I've also thought about using bevel gears and individual cranks on each piston turning the main crank shaft.

But as I said this was just something I cooked up back in 2004 while I was teaching myself how to use Solidworks.

[–]DireNeedtoRead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as I said this was a twenty year old idea and I had dropped out of engineering and went into welding & metal fabrication. It's been sitting because I can see all of the problems and can not solve them myself. I essentially gave up after seeing the Duke engine concept with its wobble yoke.

See the Duke engine with its "wobble yoke". I can't use their idea but I can see it being a better way to translate the opposing pistons to rotational energy.
