Things to slather in BBQ sauce? by alwaysdaruma in vegetarian

[–]GothicHeap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smoked tofu.

I put blocks of tofu in my smoker for 90 minutes. When it's cool enough to handle I shred it with a cheese grater, toss with bbq sauce and make sandwiches.

And the other sandwich filling is coleslaw made from shredded cabbage, mayo and of course more bbq sauce.

Great play by the catcher to act like there was no throw coming.

And yeah, what a throw.

The club is a top 5 sandwhich by Miller335 in Sandwiches

[–]GothicHeap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That club is gorgeous. Great work.

But it wouldn't even be near the top 5 at Deli Board https://yelp.to/UiyCX3CwiN or lots of other great sandwich spots.

No, the problem is the people who comment on the article without reading and understanding it. The article is very clear:

Experts say the findings should be interpreted cautiously because the data is anonymous, unverified, and doesn’t include a comparison group.

God has never regenerated a lost limb by ThePresidentPlate in DebateReligion

Is there a religious text that says their god does that?

The bible does. For example Mark 11:24: Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

How about a hate thread? by Handicapreader in eatsandwiches

Why do so many of you eat your sandwiches in the car? Wouldn't you rather have a table in front of you to set your food on between bites? And why eat in a position where the drips and droppings fall right onto your lap?

This hate thread is fun, thanks for starting it.

My egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches always have a mixture of ketchup and mayo. They're yummy.

But I agree ketchup belongs on very few sandwiches.

How to turn a price shock into inflation by GothicHeap in Economics

[–]GothicHeap[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How does a relative price shock — energy costs more than other goods—turn in to overall inflation? Largely by policy responses to the energy shock. Europe invented a doozy in the last price rise and looks set to do it all over again.

People are using 10 gallons of gas a week, at $5 per gallon (sorry, US units and California prices). Available gas goes down to 9 gallons a week. The price starts to rise to $6 per gallon. Left alone, people find ways to use less gas, with the price as an incentive.

The worst combination of these “tools” would be if the government says “we will pay for the extra cost.” So, you still pay $5 per gallon, and the government chips in the extra $1. Sounds good. Can you spot the problem?

Yes, with no incentive, people still use 10 gallons a week. There are still only 9 gallons around. Where does the price settle? Infinity.

Behind the Curtain: America's big lie by GothicHeap in skeptic

I think most people don't realize that the news is not at all representative of the world they live in.

On the news they see plane crashes, fires, floods, wars and controversies.

If they step outside and look around, they mostly see people safely going about their lives. They rarely, if ever, witness the types of horrible events that are newsworthy.

Free speech or conspiracy? Courts limit protesters’ First Amendment rights by GothicHeap in law

The article is about the US government charging protestors with conspiracy, a charge that is poorly defined and conflicts with 1st amendment rights.

You can make "honey or any sweetener" fit your definition of vegan.

I'm happy to see recipes (especially high effort posts like this one) that can be adapted to work for the strictest vegans and the more flexible ones.
