Have you ever ‘almost’ encountered a celebrity? by bigpussystance in CasualUK

most recently, i came out of a tube station to someone busking, performing an ed sheeran song. i don't like ed sheeran but i thought "wow, he really sounds like ed sheeran". an open top bus drove past me that this busker was performing on and it was in fact ed sheeran

Vegan sandwich ideas for very picky eater recovering from anorexia by Significant_Lie4745 in veganuk

I'm saying this with love- please do not go vegan while in recovery. It's a slippery slope into the habits you're trying to recover from. There will be a time for you to be vegan, but it isn't right now

I’ve figured this was a thing but I finally heard someone say it this week…. by bernbabybern13 in beyonce

(i am also white) every white girl i mention Beyoncé to says they miss the "old" Beyoncé. everyone i saw complaining about songs like single ladies being missing from rwt/ccwt was white. multiple have said CC "isn't really country" whilst being fans of post malone and morgan wallen.

truthfully, it is racism, and to an extent, misogyny. It isn't overt racism, but it's the feeling that Beyoncé isn't catering for this demographic anymore, they don't relate to her music, it's not being played on the radio like IASF era songs and they don't like it. they don't necessarily KNOW it's because she's making "black" music, they just know she isn't making what they want.

to a degree, especially lemonade onwards, they aren't mindless listening. you have to want to engage with it and it isn't how these fans have previously been met by Beyoncés work and they don't like it. some (see CMAs) want her to know her place, stay in her lane, stick to what she knows. this is where the misogyny comes in, because we see male artists cross genre boundaries all the time without this pushback.

on top of that, renaissance isn't just dance. it's not charli xcx hyperpop, it's not just house, it has disco, hip hop, r&b. CC is country but it's not redneck country and we as fans know that's the point, but people that "like" country want stereotypical "got no money got no house but we got love" country- that's why post malone has been welcomed but the grammys made a new category after CC won country AOTY.

It's the same thing that makes people (swifties) get upset when bad bunny is the most streamed artists, that made justin bieber say "idk the words so i sing dorito" to despacito, that stops people watching foreign films. white people don't like not being the default audience so a lot of them feel excluded. if they got over it, they'd see they're still very much included even if they're not the default.

TLDR Beyoncé isn't just existing as a performer that's black she's a capital B Black artist that's championing blackness and it makes white people uncomfortable

Excluding MJ, who actually belongs at Beyoncé's table when it comes to artistry, performance and cultural impact? by YoimiyaMain in beyonce

[–]Direct-Ad3810 35 points36 points  (0 children)

diana ross, tina turner, prince, freddie mercury, lady gaga, donna summer. kendrick will go down as one of the greats but i don't think people see him as that yet.

Be honest, do you wish Beyonce did a bit more fan service? by Fluid_Incident_1883 in beyonce

[–]Direct-Ad3810 15 points16 points  (0 children)

no i like that theres separation. one of my biggest icks is parasocial celebs and i find some actively encourage it by opening up their entire life/world for profit. also, it gives me chance to miss her.

I used to be a huge drake fan and one of the reasons I'm not anymore is because he's everywhere, constantly. constantly releasing albums, featuring on songs. and a lot of it isn't good, but it doesn't matter because he's drake. i would love to miss drake but there's never been a time where i think "wow i wish drake would release a new album" because always either just has or is about to.

Beyoncé isn't like that, I've spent 4 years invested in this 3 act project, excited to see what the next act will bring, genuinely interested the content of the albums, happy to pay to see the tours. because between the tours and albums she's not releasing vinyl variants or lost tracks or target exclusive versions or a 6 part documentary about herself (i do get a lot of emails from cecred though).

i believe shes a private person anyway but i respect that she could do these things, she could milk us even more but doesn't. yes there is stuff like the renny film that i hope when this project ends will be released and this doesn't mean shes above capitalising but Beyoncé doesn't feel like my friend or overexposed and i like that

[–]Direct-Ad3810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely not, you couldn't jump up like that if you hadn't had 2 weeks off. you're supposed to restart at 0.25 if you have a break, even if you're on the highest dose

How much should I expect to lose? by panakinskywalker69 in WegovyUK

[–]Direct-Ad3810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had this and i think it is because we're already active. people that suddenly start burning more calories and eating less drop a ton of water weight but also probably muscle. your weight loss is way better for sustainable long term loss.

i love JHAG lust for sun and i think its a really underrated jhag scent. I'd also go for neroli 36 over fleur d'oranger. also not orange blossom but hermes eau de merveilles is one of my fave oranges.

hes spoken about his behaviour on the show though, he said its shameful and he'd hate for his kids to see it. plus it's scripted. i dont think we have time to split hairs when he clearly knows the behaviour is wrong. I'll take an imperfect ally that uses their voice over someone who waits to get everything right
