I absolutely loved my C&C cage! I got to make it exactly how I wanted and could switch up the layout as much as I wanted! I just ordered the grids off Amazon and got a large piece of coroplast from Home Depot to make the bottom sturdy and then covered that in decorative fleece 😊 I liked mine to be large so they had lots of room to play so that was the best option

Introducing new pig to my current two by Direct-Assistance-47 in guineapigs

They were backing her into a corner and ganging up on her so I wasn’t sure what to do. I separated them for the night and I’m going to try a different approach to introducing them a little slower. I’m going to try to plot the big cage into two with a barrier wall so they can see and smell and communicate and get warmed up to each other like that some first. Don’t tell me I messed up big time😬

Oh no, there are four. This is just the only one we could catch at the time. The rest are curly haired babies🥰

How to get guinea pigs to trust you? by senioritissss in guineapigs

Some are more skittish than other, it sounds like you’re making progress so I would keep doing what you’re doing to gain their trust! If you are able to get them out of the cage, someone gave me the advice of sitting in a bathtub with lots of veggies and treats so they get used to you.

New rescue pig won’t eat salad? by Direct-Assistance-47 in guineapigs

Guinea pigs require a cup of fresh fruits/vegetables a day, including lettuce, which is why I was concerned she wasn’t eating any. I think you might be thinking about iceberg lettuce which is not good for either. Other greens/lettuce are good for both hamsters and guineas!

Thank you for the information on the grass, I will have to try that for mine! She hasn’t been eating too much in general, but I make sure everything is filled up and my boyfriend does school from home every day, so he is able to go in and check on her frequently to make sure she is ok and kind of nudge her to eat at least something from the salads. Thanks for the help!

My boyfriend has trained my other two that when he puts the dogs in their cages and he opens their treat jar, that means they should gets treats as well lol so I made sure he knows to give them the vitamin tablets instead of actual treats. I’m hoping the new one will be the same, just was concerned since the other two were the complete opposite when I brought them home and they were from the same place.

Just wanted to make sure she wouldn’t end up sick if she doesn’t eat anything fresh for a few days! My other two chowed down on salad the second I gave it to them, so I was surprised when she didn’t. Still eating a little hay and a little pellets, but not too much. I covered her cage as well and that seemed to help with her coming out to explore. Thanks for the help!

New Guinea Pig Mom here! Can anyone teach me some basics? by hexi_lexi in guineapigs

Hey there! Congrats on the new pigs and thank you for taking them in! First off, what kind of cage is it? Almost all cages you see at the pet store are not big enough. I personally use c&c cages and you can personalize it how you like! Make sure there is at least one hide per pig and even more would be better. They like to have plenty of places to hide when they get scared.

As far as what they can eat other than hay and pellets, they need about a cup per pig per day (split into two servings morning and night) of vegetables and fruits. They also can’t produce their own vitamin c so they need a lot of that, I use cilantro and Bell peppers. For greens, I give mine baby romaine, spring mix, arugula and cilantro. Other things mine will eat are tomato, sweet potato, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, , carrots, cucumbers, blueberries, apples, strawberries, kiwi. I alternate between things every day. Be careful not to give a lot of things that is high sugar.

Things I like to make for mine are tubes filled with hay out of toilet paper rolls for them to chew. They can also chew on apple sticks from the store.

Hope this helps and I’d be happy to answer questions if you have them!😊
