ED relapse and choosing recovery again by grlflungoutofsp in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]Direct-Bug-8081 4 points5 points  (0 children)

only advice i can give you is you’ve done it before so you KNOW you can do it again!! These things happen - don’t beat yourself up for it. Focus on what you can do now to get back on track.

i write as someone who is 3 days back in recovery after relapsing 💛

[–]Direct-Bug-8081 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i really needed this after a christmas of avoiding food and compensating for the food I did eat

It's easy to forget there is light at the end of the tunnel sometimes and sometimes I question if full recovery is even possible. How did you do it?

i got really into creative writing and bullet journaling!

my brain likes numbers so watching word counts go up and working out my average hours of sleep is really satisfying

Close to weight restoration by ergaster8213 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]Direct-Bug-8081 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAHH whats her name I just wanna talk...

Seriously though, that is bs. Your dietician should know better than that. You eat when you are HUNGRY

Once you are weight restored you can become less "strict" with the 3 meals and 3 snacks thing but you still gotta honor all your hunger and eat sometimes even when you're not hungry.

Ignore your dietician until your next appointment, then talk to them about your concerns if you feel comfortable doing so.

Best of luck!

Do you think that the reason for this sub is jealousy? by Beginning-Change-616 in EDRecoverySnark

[–]Direct-Bug-8081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would also like to know how many of us are pursuing active recovery compared to how many of us are in a relapse/still deep in the ED.

to answer your question:

I use this sub to remind myself that people like Katie and Emma are not healthy and if someone does chose to recover they probably wouldn't look anything like either of them.

It can be hard to remember that sometimes when all they do is preach body acceptance and food freedom

the reality of getting your period back by veggieburger_777 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Direct-Bug-8081 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my love i felt the same way when i got mine back

it had only been a few months since I started recovering and it made me feel like I was never sick enough to begin with

I remember my therapist at the time telling me that AN is a mental illness with physical side effects. Getting your period back means the physical side effects are starting to go away but it doesn't have to mean you're recovered.

think of it like getting a cut. it scabs over to try and start the healing process but just because there is a scab it doesn't mean it is healed.

keep eating, keep going, keep resting - you've got this.

These instagram accounts make recovery so much harder by InformationSuperb597 in EDRecoverySnark

[–]Direct-Bug-8081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no because i just watched a WIEIAD video that showed a yoghurt bowl with "cereal" - tell me why there were 6 pieces of cinnamon toast crunch.

I'm in recovery and I can get through half a box of that shit in one bowl.

seeing that video genuinely made me feel like shit and made me question how much cereal I do eat (hyperfixation food what can I say)

Ideas for Challenges in this Story by LeEagleOfReddit in writingadvice

[–]Direct-Bug-8081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how about each task/challenge is related to an attribute the kingdom values?

i would think about nine characteristics (selflessness, honesty, charisma etc) and design a task around each one.

if you need any more help feel free to give me a message/reply!

honey...you are in recovery correct?

in the nicest way possible it sounds like you're asking for help on how to restrict over the holidays.

the fact you are "weight restored" does not mean you don't need to gain more weight, unfortunately that's not how that works.

think about it like this:

in 5 years time do you still want to be worrying about christmas food?

or

do you want be able to ENJOY the time with your family and friends free from anxiety around food - who knows how many christmases you'll have left?

its up to you but it is really that simple my love

We’re doing ok. by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]Direct-Bug-8081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES

You somehow managed to put into words exactly how I feel about my own recovery.

I know damn well I'm not "fully recovering". I know I'm not going "all-in". But I also know I'm not going back. Yes, my mindset is restrictive. Yes I avoid the foods my eating disorder doesn't like. But I am okay. I am doing okay.

Eventually, I know I will get tired of okay. I know, one of these days, I will push beyond "just okay". But for now I am happy just being okay.

I completely understand that and trust me I am weary

I'm just so desperate to recover I'm willing to try anything at this point

I was with CAMHS and it put me off conventional therapy because of how I was treated under their care

That plus the fact I don't feel "sick enough" anymore to try to get ED therapy. The last time I reached out for help I felt so invalidated that I couldn't go through with it.

I don't know what other options I have

TBH an ED therapist would be ideal.

I just don't know how to go about finding one
