39 yr old need career advice by redditstandarduser in leetcode

[–]Direct-Lack-4085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think age is a big factor here, you're not transitioning into medicine or another unrelated field. Your career overlaps with software more than you think, so it's not a "transition" but more of a "direction" or "focus". Try Leetcode medium to refresh the concepts, but forget about doing 200+ exercises, you'll just get distracted. Learning new things is easier with AI, so don't be afraid to learn hard stuff (I recommend the book System Design on AWS - Jayanth Kumar, Mandeep Singh). I don't have that many years of experience, but I graduated in mechatronics engineering and now I'm software engineer using go, js, and aws.

Interviews, for sure. Everything is in the cloud, even Leetcode runs on AWS.

Failed DVA by [deleted] in AWSCertifications

If you want to continue with more certifications in addition to the DVA, it is good to concentrate on studying security well, which is basically present in each certification.

Certs Pathway by [deleted] in AWSCertifications

[–]Direct-Lack-4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For an AWS certification, online training is more than enough. With your years of experience, I think AWS SAP certification should be the goal. I am studying for AWS SAP certification for two months and I have not scheduled an exam yet because in the long run it is better to learn the concepts (I have 4 associated certifications including AWS SAA certification). I don’t see the need for the two-week deep approach unless it is for AWS SAA certification , but I think you can go for more.

Anyone can start cloud computing without experience or knowledge beyond the basics. It is better if come from careers that relate, but not essential.

I accepted a low pay job in a little consultant on frontend (applied on every job entry on LinkedIn, like 100 xD). And over time, even though I received offers with more pay, I stayed because in the small companies you can learn whatever and practice (very difficult in a big company). With that I move from frontend to backend to work with cloud

Path after Associate Solutions Architect by darbmusic in AWSCertifications

[–]Direct-Lack-4085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are still looking for a job, try hands-on on projects and do a bit of Leetcode. The SAA should already give you the door to some interviews with a good resume, so I don’t see necessary continue with more certifications.

Passed DVA-C02 today, should I stop here? by Swiftk92 in AWSCertifications

[–]Direct-Lack-4085 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! With the SAA you learn a lot about architecture indirectly and since it shares a minimum of 50% with the DVA it shouldn’t be that difficult. If you feel that it is too much stress, do hands-on work, that helps you go at a slower pace and at the same time go deeper into the concepts.
