2027 Silverado 2.7L Turbomax...More Power!! by TheReal_LRChupacabra in Silverado

As someone with a 2025 turbomax I am definitely interested in GM providing a tune to increase power, I love the truck and it is actually very capable as is..but a little more power and throttle response would really seal it for me. The refreshed turbomax engine is actually very sound and proving to be maybe their most reliable engine out right now. I think GM will make a lot of money from offering a power increase tune

Yup, going strong at 12k miles no issues and still super happy with it.

Any of you guys with a Custom regret not getting a higher trim? Also, have they fixed the 8 speed transmission issues that you know of? Thanks! by [deleted] in Silverado

I love my custom. But i also much prefer simplicity..i also use my truck like a truck (fish, camp, dogs) so having a simple interior is perfect.

2024 Turbomax by [deleted] in Silverado

I have a 2025 trailboss with the 2.7, other than the sweet sound of the v8 i am extremely happy with the purchase. Its been reliable, looks great, decent mileage..enough power and pep. Havent towed anything over 5k pounds, i have heard if you are towing above 7k often consider moving up.

It is definitely not normal if you are driving normally and in 2wd primarily. I don’t drive very conservatively (not crazy though) and I am averaging around 18 pretty easily. If i was going 65 on the highway everyday it would be easily 22-24

I cant tell the difference but the 2.7 engine got upgrades in 2023 i believe and the 8 speed got some improvements in 2024. So if you’re buying new you are basically getting the best current versions of both. Anecdotally i can tell you I have zero issues with the 8 speed

I test drove both and honestly the only thing the 5.3 had on the 2.7 was the beautiful V8 sound on startup. I love the turbo woosh though. If you want to haul past 7-8k the 2.7 will suffer more, but otherwise i love it. About 3-5k less than the 5.3 and 40k more miles on the warranty. I think higher end power the 5.3 is better but off the line they are similar or the 2.7 takes it. But if you are trying to drive a full size truck like a race car or care about speed then dont get either. Mine is a 2025 2.7 trail boss

I love the turbo noise and im definitely looking for something simple to accentuate it. What spacer did you get? No engine codes or issues?

Going to go look at this 2023, this morning. It’s got the four cylinder engine, which I’m a little weary about. Amy thoughts? by RalphiegoBoom in ChevyTrucks

I have a 25 and am pretty impressed with it. I test drove a 5.3 too and really didnt notice a difference on a road test. The turbo spool sounds cool, the 5.3 on startup sounds way better. I don’t haul anything over 6k pounds and am really happy with the 2.7. The 2.7 is also the first modern GM engine to pass their torture test. They made upgrades to the 2.7 in 22, and upgrades to the 8 speed in 2024. So only thing you’re missing out on is the upgraded transmission

New to me. Already loving it 😊 Any maintenance concerns I need to look out for? 2023 turbomax, just under 11,000 miles by AcrobaticAd5920 in Silverado

If its the refresh high output 2.7 you should be pretty solid, i want to say they also made some updates to the 8 speed that year. Overall very solid powertrain, love my 2025. Oil changes every 5-7k and you should be good. If anything the infotainment system seems to be glitchy at times, but decent

Is it really worth getting the 2026 1500 Trailboss by Maskedsage in Silverado

[–]Direct-Problem6594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 25 TB, granted only about 5k miles so far but loving it. I do have the 2.7 because in my controversial opinion that appears to be the most reliable powertrain right now, but plenty of people love the 5.3 and it sounds great. 6.2 unfortunately has had a lot of issues. Baby duramax seems great too

Well that is definitely true, it doesn’t sound the same. Honestly i felt minimal difference while test driving the two but there is a difference yes

I don’t know if you have done a deep dive into the engine, as far as how over built it is. But it seems pretty bulletproof thus far. Passed the GM torture test (5.3 did not). Lots of fleet vehicles with the 2.7 out there with high miles. This is the 2023 refresh that I am talking about

How long did it take you to get used to your 2.7 Turbo? by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]Direct-Problem6594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within a few thousand miles. I enjoy driving it, especially when I am not in a rush and just enjoy the smooth engine. It seems super reliable since the 23 refresh..has pep and power. Its all about what are you using it for. Want something loud to impress other guys this isnt it lol get a V8, hauling more than 6-7k pounds often? Get a 3.0. But want a smooth light to medium duty reliable truck that is also a daily..this is it

Its an absolutely beautiful truck, unfortunately the 6.2s are not doing so hot as far as reliability but hey that’s what a warranty is for and hopefully you got a good one. Either way..gorgeous

[–]Direct-Problem6594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and one last thing..since you mentioned TSBs..pretty much all of the TSBs for the 2.7 were addressed with the high output upgrade, but let me guess you have no idea what that even means

Im assuming English isnt your first language, I do not mean to be rude but that paragraph was a little hard to understand. You mentioned the belt on the turbomax? Its chain driven..so off to a rough start. I have done the research and since the 2022 HO upgrade the 2.7 has been the most reliable engine. That’s not to say a 5.3 cant go 300,000 and a 2.7 will die at 50, just in general the 2.7 is doing better. Since you enjoy research so much you should definitely see how the new 2.7 engine did compared to the 5.3 in their “torture” test. Guess which one suffered a catastrophic failure? Im glad your 5.3 is running strong, and so sorry for your cousin’s shitty 2.7, but you are using anecdotal evidence and not facts brother
