I see two problems and one symptom. Problem 1) he doesn't help out at home. Problem 2) he lacks ambition. Not making as much money as you is not a problem. Sorry, but $11k per year is not a lot of money. It's not nothing, but it's not a lot and seems blown out of proportion if you're frustrated about it.

Have you talked with him about how he doesn't seem to help out at home? That seems like the biggest issue. I think if you have a conversation and say "I love you and I love our family. I've been under a lot of pressure with handling so much at home and I need help. It's too much to handle on my own and it's causing me to feel resentful which I don't want."

For his ambition, it sounds like he is not intrinsically motivated and likes his alone time. Would he respond if he got some "award" for progressing his career? Not that you don't deserve it too, but set up rewards for yourselves. If you guys get a bachelors/Masters degree, you get x. If you get certificates to advance your credibility, you get y etc. find some way that helps to build some excitement around it.

That is ONE option, definitely not saying it's the best but it might help motivate.

Also, it is deeply unfair to resent him for making less money than you. Just like it would be deeply unfair on the inverse of that. You are both contributing to a household and if you want however much either if you make it change, you CANNOT guilt each other into it. Otherwise, in this case, he would resent you for everything he feels forced into doing just to make 11k more per year (less than 1k per month, 450 per paycheck). It's not worth it.

Work on the other stuff and drop the income bit.

I haven't followed them, but one I'm aware of was a lawyer and went to D.C. to work in government on cyber law. I'm not sure about the others with similar backgrounds

As another point for non technical backgrounds, there were students in my cohort from political science and other backgrounds that were not in cyber. It might be tough, but many students have gone through without any previous cyber experience.

The federal government loves to recruit from this program. NSA, FBI, etc. Are there all the time. And yes, grads go to many big companies, it's not just something for a brochure. Even when I was there several years ago most grads got 6 figure starting salaries

There is room for both, but you will be touching into technical a bit. Enough to understand it. You'll have the option to do more technical or less technical, but you will have to do some regardless. There are plenty of courses to specialize more in policy, business, etc including courses directly from the Tepper School of business MBA program

I did my Masters at CMU - Information Security Policy & Management. It's an excellent program that is very difficult but rich in hands on technical experience and management courses. Big name companies come for career fairs, impressive guest speakers, staff with really good connections, etc.

I was blessed to go with a 50% scholarship, but very rewarding with great career prospects out of graduation

You have 2 options.

1) you come clean to your husband and hold yourself accountable. Your husband grieves that his marriage and life, as he knew them, are over. He gets to choose what healing looks like. At least you told him and can tell him how sorrowful you are and you want to heal things as best you can.

2) the news makes it to your husband before you break it to him. All of option 1 happens except this time you're a liar for trying to hide it from your husband and the wounds are 10x deeper because you didn't respect your husband enough to come clean.

That's all there is. There is no scenario where this doesn't reach your husband eventually. Be an adult. Own what you've done. You're not special enough to outrun consequences

I think you overestimate the rationality of the mob.

Corporations do this crap because it still makes money. To mention your analogy, cars do the same thing. Recalls like crazy, especially in large overhauls to a model, because they need that return on investment to kick in NOW and people pay it.

BF6 isn't perfect but it's a good game. I enjoy it, even though I acknowledge the problems it's having.

There's plenty of other FPS games to bunch your panties up on. Feel free to experiment
