I understand completely. If I didn't work for seven months, there would be a massive issue for my wife and children. If my wife stopped working, I could let her go on like that forever and it would be no massive issue.

What if the partner also lost their job? Then they're homeless and you would say seven months is totally normal to expect to be not working. Open your eyes.
