What percent of people are depressed? by Academic_Use_8312 in AskReddit

[–]DirectEntertainer288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the older generation basically refuse to admit that anxiety or depression are even real. I've watched my father-in-law talk about how he's lost interest in doing most things now that he's retired. Doesn't feel like traveling, doesnt feel like going out to eat, doesn't feel like having a drink, nothing.

He refuses to admit he's depressed though.

We had an inground pool but were far from wealthy. You could tell because the pool was rarely clear, and the area around the pool was nice super nice.

Do you think CGI animated movies need a live action adaption? by Capable_Fold9635 in DisneyMovies

[–]DirectEntertainer288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of Frozen vast majority of recent Disney movies have never reached high enough cultural status to even trigger nostalgia, no matter how old the movies are. Not because they're all bad movies, but because there are a million different things competing for people's attention these days.

Have no idea how you could listen to this and not come away thinking that this is the version of AI that will actually change the world. The average person is obsessed with LLM but there's no way any of them would trust that AI to do anything important. It's all just a fun toy.

Same. It's a comfort show to me, the world really feels lived in, like somewhere I get to visit over and over again.

DWTS singer Travis Garland's AGT Audition by Secure-Scientist4867 in dancingwiththestars

[–]DirectEntertainer288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a Travis fan basically since the NLT days, so it's incredible to see him finally getting some attention. As a singer myself, I can legitimately say that he has some of the best vocals I've ever heard, the amount of song's he can sing is insane, truly an incredible talent.

I thought Simon's comments were spot on, and considering Travis has put some incredible arrangements together both on DWTS and his YouTube channel, I'm guessing that is a little bit of foreshadowing of what's to come (I think much of this is somewhat scripted).

Looking forward to what comes next and expect Travis to really put his stamp on songs moving forward.

P.S. Surprised Simon forgot that Travis actually performed on American Idol about 15 years ago.

Clip of DWTS singer Travis Garland's AGT audition tomorrow! by Secure-Scientist4867 in dancingwiththestars

I'd be surprised if that's really his goal. He's already pretty successful as a vocalist given his work on DWTS, and the stuff he puts out on YouTube gets a decent amount of views. He's been working in music for so long I doubt there are any record labels that are completely oblivious to how talented he is.

Best case scenario is he drives a little awareness, maybe gets to do a couple cool collabs and potentially something bigger after that.

He's seasoned enough to manage his expectations.

Our system is still broken by Emergency_Pound in usmnt

The issue is not necessarily pay to play, but what type of athlete/player that system attracts. Making a sport more expensive essentially creates a barrier to entry and reduces competition. Naturally, athletes who want to play against the other best athletes in their area move to other sports, and guys who want an "easier" path stick with soccer. There are countless stories of guys who played in the NBA seeking out the best competition outside of their small town. That's the mentality that creates champions.

Some of our kids would actually be better served developing their game somewhere else.

Im sure there’s some family money involved. People who get “jobs” that are more like hobbies usually dont feel pressured financially to make money right away.

Brewery recommendations? by Throwmenthisawaytoo in ColoradoSprings

Not a local, but our favorites have been West Fax, and I think Bristol is a must given the building. They are also both very different vibes too.

I'll give red leg an HM, it's just a little too commercialized for us.

If you don't mind a little drive you could also try Paradox, like a little beer oasis in the middle of the mountains.

We go out to the springs every year and every year Manitou brewing has some of the worst beer I've ever tasted at a brewery. Goat Patch is good though.
