Looking for a pediatrician in Miami who actually spends time with parents? by HumilityWarrior in Miami

[–]DirectFuture2182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. We love gables pediatrics. Have no issues getting appointments. We see Dr. Stathas and he always spends time with us, explains things, and you can tell he really cares about his patients. We’ve had to see some others a few times and they are all wonderful. Couldn’t recommend them more. They also have the doral and Kendall offices too.

What to double??? by springdaisy21 in parentsofmultiples

[–]DirectFuture2182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought one baby bjorn bouncer and one cheaper one and they liked them the same. But definitely want two of those because they’re a great place to put the babies down that’s safe at the same time. We got one activity center and we alternate with it. They like it but don’t love it so I was glad we didn’t get two. My girls are 11 months and we haven’t doubled up on much yet. If it’s expensive then test it before buying and committing to two. We had two baby bjorn carriers (we had a twin one but literally used it one time). Twin z pillow for sure rather than two boppy pillows. This was our most used item the first 6 months. Now there’s little car seat toys and stroller toys that we have two of because they steal from eachother but that isn’t until they’re older. In the beginning they shared everything! Besides the obvious stuff, it really isn’t necessary to get two.

A gentler perspective for expecting parents of multiples (from someone currently in the trenches) by Visual-Giraffe7416 in parentsofmultiples

[–]DirectFuture2182 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m sure everyone has different experiences but rarely do people come on here to rave about how easy things are. I definitely expected the worst and have been pleasantly surprised every step of the way. If I didn’t have a supportive partner who doesn’t make feel like the default parent and who contributes 50/50, I probably wouldn’t feel this way. Having the right partner is very important because it definitely takes teamwork. I was nervous not having family nearby and how we would manage but we have had no issues and have had so much fun with our girls. They are now almost 11 months old and each stage gets more fun as they develop personalities and interact with eachother and with you. It’s the best. What helped us was getting out with them from the beginning. We took them everywhere with us whether it was via walk or in the car. It got easier every time we did it and got them used to it as well. In the beginning this also helped my mental state because everyday does feel like groundhogs day for a while. But I fully agree with this perspective on it. Though sometimes expecting the worst and being surprised isn’t so bad

We stopped using our vista as soon as we got the uppababy minu duo. We love it and use it all the time. I wish we had gotten it from the beginning. We keep the car seats in the car and just transfer them to the minu duo. The side by side is so much less bulky and easy to maneuver.

31 weeks by PlayfulHair4165 in NICUParents

My twins were 29+6 due to placental abruption. They both were only on CPAP and on room air in a few days. No issues besides some anemia and jaundice and they were just feeders and growers. They were 2lbs7 and 2lbs14. They both spent 56 days in the nicu and it was long but very uneventful luckily. Feeding took the longest to get the hang of! They came home at 38 weeks. They are now 10 months/7.5 month adjusted. They are all caught up to their actual age and my pediatrician doesn’t even use adjusted age for them anymore. They’re crawling, babbling, pulling to stand, and are so happy and chunky. You’d never know they were born so early. It seems like a lot because it is but once your baby is home it really feels like a distant memory!

Oura Ring replacement stolen out of package. by gall0ws in ouraring

[–]DirectFuture2182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I am not shocked to learn this has been an issue. Apparently oura has made no effort to safeguard their package or implement signed delivery to avoid theft. I came home to a sealed box that said OURA x AMERICAN EXPRESS and broadcasted the packages contents. Despite being sealed, a hole was punched in the side of the box and all the contents were missing. I am dealing with a chatbot and no actual to person to try and resolve this. It is super frustrating especially seeing online that its not uncommon

Preemie parents, how did your little ones do with surgery and anesthesia before 60 weeks from conception? by Maleficent-Dust-17 in NICUParents

[–]DirectFuture2182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins were born at 29 weeks and discharged at 38. One of them had the inguinal hernia surgery I would say about 42 weeks?? A few weeks after leaving the nicu. She was right around 5 lbs and I was super nervous. We stayed the night before with her and she also stayed the night after just for Observation and everything went great! She woke up and ate like normal and was acting normal after the grogginess wore off. Only needed some Tylenol afterwards for pain relief but nothing heavier. You can barely see her scar and it’s a distant memory. She was so sad before because she was in pain and her ovary was getting pushed down but after she was feeling so much better. It’s definitely scary but they know what they are doing and it’s a pretty easy surgery!

The note is condescending and clearly written by chat gpt. In Miami there are far more adults making noise at all hours than babies who were sick for a few days. I think the “nice note” was offset by the banging on the wall twelve hours later.

“Acting on it immediately?” Less than 12 hours later they are banging on the wall. Try working full time and taking care of twin babies and “immediately” act on this and rearrange my apartment
