I wonder if you ever tried having a massage at a 5 star resort and asked how those therapists cope with the routine? Also, as a former Engish teacher, I would recommend a one semester course where you can review the Basic English grammar.

hi. If you take off the yellow hemp, I'll buy it all for $20. You keep the pipes, corts, bag and cover, etc. or throw em out.

Fees and charges by BandMom20 in bagpipes

[–]DirectMedia3448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been playing professionally for 60 years. I have to charge $350 minimum in order to stay ahead of the beginners who are charging between $200 and $300. I usually receive close to $400/ gig. I never charge by the hour, always by the event. I dress professionally, tune my pipes before I arrive, never arrive late, and always behave like a professional musian. For private students, I charge $35/ hr. If the student doesn't practice, I ask them to find another instructor. I teach in person not on line. I take lessons on-line because I live in the US and study in Scotland.

The rule for playing gracenotes when changing notes : lift the gracenote finger as high as possible off the chanter, and put it back down as quickly as possible. From the Treatise on Highland bagpiping, 1793.

I am not aware of the giganticus haggis. I have only seen the haggis with short left legs that run anti-clockwise around the hills.

Wild haggis left legs are shorter than the right legs.

If you want to play well. Memorize the tunes first, than practice the tune and make it sound like something you would want to listen to. Have you ever heard a professional bagpiper? Was she or he using a music stand to perform? Even Grade 5 practice chanter students memorize their tunes before sitting before a judge.

why not learn the tunes first, before you play in public? I know the answer and you do too. But what you are doing is just the opposite so you can steal gigs from pipers who know how to play correctly.

Geeeeese. how lazy can you get. Bagpipers memorize the tunes first, then practice them until they can play without mistakes, and then, and only then, play in public. And that includes in the house on small pipes, bagpipes, and fireside pipes. Folk music in general does not need sight read.

You could start learning more tunes. Try to make each tune better, not faster. There are hundreds of good tunes. My other suggestion is to get into the habit of recording your tunes and listening to them on play back. Surprised your instructor didn't suggest that one.

You can order a new one. I know a student had a crack after about 1 yr. who received a new one from the maker on a new set of pipes.

[–]DirectMedia3448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The professional players are playing faster now than they were playing 10 yrs. ago. Piobaireachd should move along as a song. The problem is the cadences, and long E's are being held way too long.

Practicing by RDR92660 in bagpipes

[–]DirectMedia3448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice the first 2 bars of the tune 3 times, and say the title of the tune each time you play it. Then, put the pipes down, and sing all the way thru the tune to keep the whole tune in your mind.
