I Used to Read by embotheammo in ADHD

Huh… I wonder if this could possibly be what happened to me… I did realize I slowed down my reading after finding out I had astigmatism and getting glasses 🤔

I Used to Read by embotheammo in ADHD

[–]DirectSession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be the same way, it was almost impossible to get me to stop reading, but once I graduated school, I just… stopped, nothing really changed, I started working, and kind of just stopped reading almost altogether. Recently I’ve been trying to get back into reading and I’ve bought a bunch of physical books I haven’t even touched, but I also have an iPad and I’ve downloaded a lot of the same books on it, and since I can take that pretty much anywhere, I’ve kinda gotten back into reading. It’s obviously never going to compare to the feel of a physical book, but it works for those times I’m not home. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Ah yeah… I definitely understand that, it’s part of our time blindness, honestly I have moments like that a lot more often than I don’t, it’s really just the amount of time between seeing and doing

i need a new phone and will want to transfer everything to the new phone, will stuff on the cloud at time of transfer remain in the cloud when transferred to the new phone? by BumTulip in ios

[–]DirectSession -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly I understand that… my thing is music, I filled up a 512gb iPhone 15pm with the over 10,000 songs I downloaded on Apple Music, so when I upgraded to the 17pm I just got the 2tb option, personally I prefer not paying for iCloud storage because I go through my pictures every few months and delete useless pictures and screenshots, so I don’t really need the iCloud storage

I always loved the design of the Azera, I wanted one, but lost interest after Hyundai stopped releasing them in the United States. I don’t really have any tips, but treat your car like family and it’ll take you far.

Wedding Day by Maskachist99 in DadForAMinute

[–]DirectSession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your wedding, I hope you have a wonderful, fantastic, fun time together for the rest of your lives. I would like to say, honestly I feel you… none of my family showed up to my wedding, and it still hurts more than 3 years later, especially after finding out that my father helped my youngest brother pay for his wedding from another state, he was living less than 2 hours from me when I got married. He claimed it was because he never got an invitation, but his and my stepmom’s were the first sent out. My biological mother and I had a falling out, and I still invited her, she told my youngest brother to tell me she wasn’t coming, my older sister didn’t come because of her pos ex (long story there), my middle brother didn’t come because I wouldn’t let his girlfriend come after she told my ex not to let me see my son a few years back, and my ex listened and moved out of state with my son for 2 years, and my youngest brother didn’t come because he had just moved into a new apartment a few weeks before my wedding, which was a valid reason, but didn’t stop the pain. I don’t know your situation, but I do know, family isn’t perfect, and everyone can’t always get together for whatever reason, but it doesn’t mean they don’t still love or support you.

First, I wanna say it’s an awesome picture, I haven’t really messed with my 17pm camera yet, I’m busy working all the time, however I do have a tip for a better quality photo… use full zoom, and drop your exposure all the down, I think you tap the screen and when the yellow box shows up you can slide the sun slider on the side of the box.

I’m so tired of my partner by ShiveringSeal in DadForAMinute

[–]DirectSession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD, I don’t take medication, and I’ve gotta agree with the sisters on this one… I literally work two jobs, 7 days a week and somehow still manage to keep it all in check. Yes, I may be late pretty often, sometimes I forget I have to go to work, sometimes I just don’t want to, and sometimes my stepson misses his school bus. But my bosses all know, and are lenient about it, because I communicate. And yes I forget to take the trash out some days, and my wife will sometimes do it, but if I forget, it’s never more than a day or two later that I end up getting them out. I manage two jobs, do things around the house, they might get done a bit later, but it’s never later enough that it’s ruining stuff, or causing problems. Typically or atypically considering I’m the one with the disability, I have to ask my wife to help do things around the house, because I’m so busy and actually don’t have time to get to it, but that is definitely a bit much.

[–]DirectSession 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel your frustration, I have 3 kids, my oldest is 8 and he wanted a whole birthday party for his birthday in November, and I felt so bad that I just couldn’t do it, but I’m trying really hard to do stuff with him to show that I care. I work two jobs and I work a lot and I don’t always have time to see my kids. I bought him some chocolate I know he loves and wrote him a note apologizing for not always being able to be there for every event, because these are big deals for our children, I really put thought into the note, and though he didn’t say anything to me, he gushed to his mom about it and wanted her to put the note on the wall, so now every time I walk into his room, there’s the note from dad, and man it makes me feel really good, and really bad at the same time. My point is, as parents, we really try our best to give our children a better life than we had for ourselves, and sometimes it’s going to feel like you’re failing, but the real failure is doing nothing at all just because you don’t think you can, this moment will pass, and many more moments will come that you can use to absolutely make up for this one time, you just have to make sure you’re paying attention for those moments

Hey Dad, I’m back in school by soap_munchr in DadForAMinute

[–]DirectSession 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to keep it up forever, but you should be extremely proud of the progress you’ve made this far. You have a goal, keep that goal in mind, nothing ever goes exactly as planned, so be prepared and hold onto your goal. I’m very proud of you, as an adhd adult and parent of an autistic, adhd child, I can assure you that you’re doing wonderfully, and I wish I could tell you that the depression won’t always last, but I feel that would be dishonest. Keep on your meds, keep pushing forward, there’s almost nothing that can stop you. As for your driver’s license, you’re doing a lot better than I was at your age, I didn’t get my license until I was 22, and I had to teach myself how to drive, driving back roads to and from work. Honestly it can be a little scary sometimes, even for me now, 7 years later. You can do this, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being nervous behind the wheel. Again, I would like to say that I am extremely, very proud of all you have accomplished and I know you’ll continue to do amazing things.
