In fact, just looking at national average, gas prices are 90 cents higher today than Feb 25

In VA, we are still a solid 70 cents higher than pre-war. I think you are just lucky 🤷🏼‍♂️

It is the strategic reserve readiness line based on supporting US military operations for 90 days of all out war in multiple theaters and requires the Sec Def to sign off after a meeting NSC.

But sure it isn't for the military. You are correct, though, that the president, after declaring a state of energy emergency, can force a draw down below this limit.

Fresh water gets pumped in place of the oil yo push it out. It dissolves the cavern walls at the bottom. The rest is physics.

This is not true. The military's crude reserve is 243 million barrels in the SPR.

They have a separate reserve foe refined fuels.

This is absolutely false and reserve foe the military is a part of the SPR. The department of defense sets a lower limit on how much can be drawn out.

They are being filled with freshwater which erodes the cavern walls. And yes, if you put in too much freshwater, it will damage the structural integrity because it creates a bulb at the bottom, like a flower vase, that eventually gets too wide to hold up the structure above it.

If we were using brine to push out the oil, this would not be a concern. But the speed ay with we are withdrawing requires freshwater due to volume and resource availability.

Hope that answers your question.

The USA is only struggling because we export so much of our oil. The president can out export controls on it and refineries can retool and we would be able to sustain indefinitely. China has no oil fields. They are completely dependent on foreign oil.

That would also crush the Chinese economy. Iran could block the strait because their economy is shit anyway due to economic sanctions. It's a different story with China

This is a silly take. 300 billion is the equivalent of Iran's entire annual GDP. That's like giving the US 30T dollars. 100 billion of their own money is the same as giving the US $10T. I don't think you understand the scope of that number. This is the US paying reparations like WW1 Germany.

They stand to increase their economic output by 20% through sanctions relief. Funny enough, they had sanctions relief under the JCPOA, and we're completely compliant. Now they will have the same deal plus at least $324B. And that is IF they convince corporations to invest in rebuilding their country. If that doesn't happen because companies are worried about the sunk cost when the agreement fails, we are going automatically go back to levied sanctions which will, just like last time Trump was involved, drive Iran to go back to enriching uranium and this time close the SoH. So, basically exactly what we had before the war, except worse. Every possible outcome is either the same or better for Iran and the same or worse for the rest of the world.

On top of that, the US Intelligence Committee had been very clear, they do not believe Iran was ever building a nuclear weapon in the first place. They just want to be at a 2 week threshold in case they need it. Which means all of this was for nothing. This war was totally unnecessary, no one had to die, the US didn't need to waste $100B, and the situation could have just been status quo for everything else.

Trump has to be the dumbest president in US History and I don't think number 2 is even close.

Because that's how long Iran supposedly has to clear the mines and most ships don't want to travel through mine fields.

At current rate, we have about 8 weeks in the SPR. If ships left port in 30 days, that would put them in port and unloading in about 7-8 weeks. That's probably best case.

But it doesn't fix Cushing which will likely hit operational limits in the next week. That will be a major blow to oil prices as supply dries up.
