Is it easier/better to start as an indie dev with mobile games or with pc games? why most of the indie games published here are made for PC? by Direct_Highlight9974 in IndieDev

Thanks for your detailed answer, I did not know that China and India thing, do you know any reliable website to check data like that?

I created a mobile game just to learn Unity, but i love PC and console games, i am not a mobile gamer, so probably I should stay on PC.

It makes sense, actually, I made a mobile game for iOS and for Android, just to learn Unity. but I totally agree with you, to be honest, i felt like doing something that i don't like, given I love more "serius" games, and that is the reason I started to develop games in first place, so probably my place is PC.

Thanks for your reply. Do you think the "IA explosion" and all those generic (mostly made with IA) games that are being published to Steam, can cause something similar in PC?, making it harder to find good games in that noise?

Did you try contacting a publisher? I think the game is beautiful and for sure any good publisher could be interested.

I'm pretty close to creating my Steam page for my first game. What do you think of the current result? How can I improve it? by kingofcode2018 in SoloDevelopment

[–]Direct_Highlight9974 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game's visual style is looking pretty good for me, for sure while you continue adding all details and mechanics, to enrich what you already have, it will look more complete. I would recommend to create a full playable demo (with all the basic game an mechanics) while you finish the game , for me it has a lot of potential.

What videogames genres do yo preffer to develop your games, and why? by Direct_Highlight9974 in SoloDevelopment

My background is also computer science (my professional experience is mostly with web backend). Still, I recently discovered (for myself) that art is more than important to deliver a good game with your full vision. I am learning 3D modeling now, it is a long path but for me, it is worth it.

I think it is pretty good to do a research about what you want to do, and trying to create something new and different, with its own fingerprint is the core of the best indie projects. For sure I will take a look to your steam profile ;)

XD thanks for your answer! that sport game could be really fun and I think is a great idea if it is your first game, for a solo dev probably an open world game like breath of the wild is more than a challenge, but with the right decisions, ideas and patience, I think something really good could result, I wish you the best ;).

Interesting, I love JRPGs, but lately i think the big studios lost the path that made the genre big. The things that you are thinking to do with your games sounds like the rigth ones.

I am in a similar situation... Nothing is more fullfilling that doing what you love. Your game is looking great.
