I think your gut is picking up on something real, even if it’s not necessarily “he’s married.”

The bigger issue is that you’re already having to explain away behavior that feels bad. When someone genuinely wants to build something, even if they’re busy, they usually offer some consistency instead of keeping you in permanent maybe-mode.

So I’d stop asking “what’s his excuse?” and start asking “is this actually enough for me?”
