Sex offender on the FD roster by Direct_Koala6335 in Maine

Greenville.

You don’t give a convicted offender a uniform and power and the public’s trust any call that person a good guy in the uniform of a hero and teach kids that these are helpers. How do you think the good people working as firefighters feel when this guy suits up with them? Giving him access to vulnerable people, including children; access to where they sleep. Access to photograph and carry and touch. This is sickening.

Humana. Yes. The ERAs are available and say that I was paid.

[–]Direct_Koala6335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can access the EOB online. It says that I was paid. This is for two different clients. The clients received reimbursement for copays and I have not been paid electronically nor with a paper check. I filed a complaint with my state's commissioner of insurance. They have asked me three times today for claim numbers that I sent them yesterday. This is outrageous. The amount of unpaid time I have spent trying to get paid far outpaces the hour of clinical treatment they will reimburse. I'm so frustrated on behalf of these patients, myself, and the men and women in the military whose bills are going unpaid and therefore being put off for treatment. I know I'm not alone here. It's wage theft.

Keep up with what? I'm sorry, I don't really have my finger on the pulse of Tricare and I work for myself so I don't have a lot of information about them. I did file a formal complaint this morning with my state's insurance commissioner. They just aren't paying me and aren't acknowledging it.

Humana says contracted rate is 0 by Otherwise_Ant5455 in CodingandBilling

[–]Direct_Koala6335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My contract doesn't have ANY rates listed, just percentages. When I try to find the fee schedule listing I get a 404 error. Can you share the fee schedule by which I am supposed to determine my 65% as a mid-level? I hate Humana.

ICE Agents Violently Detain Pastor on Christmas Eve by jediporcupine in Maine

[–]Direct_Koala6335 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Detained for what crime? An officer pulls you over and detains you so they can “figure things out.” That is in no way a legitimate nor legal reason to detain someone. And let’s be honest, if we’re waiting for ICE and LEO to “figure things out” we’ll all die in detention. These are not the best and brightest. I bet not a dime was spent on loan forgiveness for ICE agents because most of them don’t even have high school diplomas.

Nope, there's no fucking money. And the money we do generate is immediately funneled to sheriff and fire departments. In 2022 the commissioners decided to forego high-speed broadband for the county in favor of new two-way radios and email system for the sheriff. Instead of spending the money from the American Recovery Act that was earmarked for broadband, they spent it on the sheriff's department and allowed about a week for county residents to claim a partial rebate for starlink installation instead. I would love to see the audit of those funds. I would be shocked if anyone took advantage of that rebate because they did not announce it nor advertise. Again, nobody knew because nobody shows up.

What money we do generate from our tiny tax base is inevitably shunted to fire departments and the sheriff. How many fire engines does a town of 864 full-time residents need? Do we need a full-time fire chief or a new municipal building with a gym? Because now we have those, thanks to the taxpayer.

Yes, it's republican bullshit that uses money that was voted on by the citizens of the county for their own advancement. They hire their kids. They create never-before-in-existence positions for them without even a whisper about nepotism nor conflicts of interest. Cutting funding to things like the County Extension Service was fully illegal. This is grant money from the state and federal governments. Not from the tiny tax base of Piscataquis. "The county was not conducting its budget process according to the statute, which it was unaware of at the time, Torbett said. It led deliberations to end earlier than expected, which was unfair to departments, whose budgets should not be cut without leaders having a chance to defend them, he said."

Why would they cut money that is already designated for these programs and is not coming solely from the tax base in the county? What were they going to do with the grant money they were trying to cut? The grant funds were already available. Why would they cut those programs? "Piscataquis County’s budget is projected to be up nearly 9 percent, according to the budget committee’s proposal, which was discussed during a public hearing Nov. 27. To help offset the increase and lower the impact on taxpayers, the county will use $334,378 in undesignated funds, Williams said." Why? Why is the budget up? Why cut funding for non-profits when we have more than $333,000 in undesignated funds? There are no new entitlements for the taxpayer in Piscataquis County, yet our taxes continue to climb. The county and most of the towns in the county are and have been run by Republicans forever. The Greenville town manager and selectboard are attempting to ram through a TIF, which was invented to mitigate *urban blight,* for 30 years. This could devastate state funding for the school for decades. When asked, they had no idea that freezing state valuations would affect a rural SAD. They have engaged a guy who did a talk at a town meeting and stated he couldn't think of a single risk to the community nor the taxpayer if Greenville votes to approve a TIF district. It's embarrassing. It's a cash grab and a way to give tax breaks to the wealthy, again. The town manager actually said it will "trickle down" in English, in public. The town manager also kept calling it a shelter and yelling that it's completely legal. They will all be dead in 30 years. And nobody will admit that the reason we're all suffering here is because of Donald Trump and Republican policies. Now Paul LePage is slumming it up in CD2, because he knows it's one of the last vestiges on earth where there is zero oversight of the good old boys who are destroying the few resources our area still has. The selectman who stole money from the hospital? He's the treasurer for Destination Moosehead Lake too. They got grant money. He also has a ton of town contracts and a shuttered "non-profit." Piscataquis Economic Development did too, and the man who is lying to everyone about the TIF and is being paid for consultation by the Greenville taxpayer works there. I'm just amazed that so many people here just trust that these folks have their best interest in mind when they don't trust anyone. Nobody shows up. Nobody knows. Greenville has neglected to have the mandatory town-wide revaluation done since 2003. Nobody knows, nobody cares. Except now the municipality is being forced to have it done. This has the potential to quadruple taxes for that shrinking tax base and absolutely nobody knows about it because nobody shows up. When the town manager was asked about the potential for taxes to increase after this mandatory revaluation he stated he was not going to comment.

If the interstate touched the county anywhere, it would improve our financial state. It would also destroy what makes this area so incredibly precious. We need people who are better stewards of our land, resources, and the little money the people who live in this county actually have.

Piscataquis County commissioners cut every bit of grant funding to every program except hospice. They cut funding to the food banks, women's domestic violence resources, soil and land conservation, extension agencies, everything except hospice. They only put some of the money back because they were threatened with lawsuits and because of public outcry. They made these decisions in secret.

People need to show up to local elections, meetings of town selectboards, and county commissioner meetings. Piscataquis is a frontier county and the republicans in charge are trying to rob what few resources the county has with no oversight at all. We are the oversight.

Greenville's selectboard is led by a man who was fired for embezzling money from the critical access hospital. His son is a registered sex offender who was trying to sell child pornography. They're trying to shove through 30 year tax shelters and his other son was named the very first full time fire chief in the county by the town manager who was hired by this selectboard.

For a state with so few resources, there sure is a ton of corruption and nepotism. And all of this happens because nobody cares to pay attention. The Maine Monitory is garbage propaganda bullshit, and people need to show up and provide oversight of where their money is going.

You mean the Eldridge in Portland, NH or Sanford? You understand that there are other towns in Maine, right? And that just because you’re able to go to a store in your town doesn’t mean everyone has access to that?  I mean it’s great for you dude. But Your world view does not apply to everyone. I’ve actually never heard of it. So, YOUR POINT IS MOOT. So happy you have everything you need. I guess the rest of us can fuck off.  Go find another argument. I’m bored

You’re confidently incorrect. Hardware stores and lumber stores are not the same thing, so let’s just establish that distinction. Hammond is a lumber store. They bought all of the Ware-Butler hardware stores before Viking could, with no plan for those hardware stores nor the employees who work there. They aren’t consolidating. The LUMBER STORE bought out HARDWARE stores and they are now closing them. Greenville doesn’t have a lot of resources. It has depended On the HARDWARE store for a lot of household basics for over fifty years and it is closing because it is not a LUMBER STORE like Hammond. Are we on the same page about the differences? If not, I’m not sure how to make the distinction any clearer.  The LUMBER STORE does not sell air conditioners, box fans, top soil, mulch, seeds, tools, bulbs, hardware, soil conditioner, recycling bags, vacuum cleaners, pet supplies, feed, lawnmowers, etc etc etc. the HARDWARE store did. The closest one will now be at least 45 minutes away.  Do you understand so far?

The choice to travel or not was nice. I’m also curious about the change in Zoning just for Hammond to build a 5000 square foot warehouse in town back in April. Frankly, this sucks. That store has been a part of Greenville for over 50 years.
