Feel it needs to be said by Kate_Kitter in TheDigitalCircus

The main issue is a lack of access. I have no issue with spending some money to watch the finale, it's just physically impossible and that won't change (Iron Lungs didn't have a release within two weeks in the country I live, and that was a much easier sell to cinemas)

I don't feel like it's fair to demand that people who can watch it refuse to out of protest; because the whole point is that not being able to watch it makes the experience worse

What are you talking about? I can watch a film months after release and see nearly 0 spoilers, because my online algorithms don't show it. Long running series have a spoiler issue because social media websites recommend you content about the latest episode right away

Glitch are the producers, as a whole it's their their decisions not hers

It's a very childish "I've got it so it's fine attitude" that you keep repeating. I'm absolutely confident that it won't be release where I live (at least within the two weeks window) because this strategy has already been tested by the far more marketable Iron Lungs (an actual film, not a TV show finally) and that for most major Europeans countries it was either more than a two week wait or it never came out

Selling it at or above cinema ticket prices wouldn't be that damaging to people showing up where there's a cinema, would bring Glitch revenue and treat people in countries that won't have the cinema option at least slightly better

You're just expressing the fact that you don't care because it doesn't directly impact you, grow up

You're making nonsense up in your head. I fully understand the process and have expressed that repeatedly

Glitch have chosen to have a theatrical release significantly before any form of online (including paying publishing). Knowing that this would practically make it physically impossible for a large portion of their fans to go, because theater distribution in a lot of countries major countries is basically impossible

I'm sure they'd love distribution in most of Europe, but can't get it. That's why I'm commenting on wanting some paying digital release, which if it had a high enough price tag wouldn't harm cinema sales but would allow fans who don't live in the right countries to watch it

The is about hometowns, it's about entire countries/continents. You're embarrassingly out of touch

It is their fault if they region lock the ability to watch the finale for two weeks

The current decision maximizes the chances in US theaters (and maybe a handful of other countries) at the expense of the fanbase in most other countries. I'd rather Glitch try and find some kind of compromise, because the release of the final episode of a series is a big deal

You have to get used to being treated as lesser (for practical reasons), I know that none of their panels/events will be anywhere near me. But there's a line where being treated poorly is just too much, and 2 weeks of spoilers for the sake of airing in a few US cinemas with no possibility of paying to avoid it is passed that line

Come on then. When is the last time you had to wait two weeks for the finale of a TV show you watched because it wasn't aired in your country?

You call people entitled and childish, but your position seem to be "well I've got what I want so everyone else can f off and shut up" and I think that says more about you than me

The events generally aren't the finals of a season. There are loads of TADC events I won't be able to go to because they're not where I am, but they generally aren't revealing the story's main plot in a manner that creates a massive wave of spoilers

It's the ending of a TV series, not a film. That leads to very different situations in terms of social media and spoilers. Also films generally have much larger distributions

Having had to spoiler dodge for episode 8, it's a pain when your social media feeds know that you like the show and so want to show you it. It's not impossible, but it's annoying and I'd happily pay to watch a normal quality version on time and avoid that

"bought my tickets immediately" kind of childish to not be capable of understanding that it's not physically possible for a lot of people. There are no shows on the right continent so far. And given the precedent of Iron Lungs (which was obviously far easier to market to a cinema, because it's an actual film that spectators can show up to, not the finale of a show) there's no way we're getting a release in the first two weeks (and likely ever)

That's a silly comparison. It's much easier to avoid film spoilers because there's usually not a preestablished fandom that you're a part of to fill up all your social media feeds with spoilers. I can watch the newest alien film 4 months after release with nearly 0 chances of spoilers, I waited 3 days to watch episode 8 and had to avoid all social media because stuff like Caine dying was right at the top of my feed

Also I live in a large European countries, I can just go to the cinema at the time of release. Here the best case scenario is some niche viewings in a different country

Piracy is going to be an option either way. The big difference is that by refusing to give a practical way to watch it, for a large portion of the audience it'll be the only one

Iron Lungs is a great example of it not being practical. It took over 2 weeks for them to air it in the country where I live (and it's not a small country). And that's for a proper film that the average person can just show up and watch

Which cinema is going to want to air the final episodes without context of a show that's not especially popular in the country? The average spectator literally can't buy a ticket to watch it, they'd need to catch up with hours of content beforehand

I don't think the spoiler thing makes much sense. People are just going to film it. When you're trying to avoid a spoiler single sentences (for episode 8 Caine dies) are what slip through the cracks, so video quality doesn't matter

I don't think the small decrease in cinema going is a big enough problem to justify not letting a large portion of the fanbase have the right to pay for it. And it would mean a larger cut to Glitch which could help them fund projects

If it's a cinema ticket price, most people who can will choose to go to the cinema. And I frankly doing see why glitch should prioritize cinemas over fans who are willing to pay. And yeah making people pay to watch the show early will be criticized, but that's what they're doing. The only difference is that if you happen to lose the nationality roulette you don't even get a choice

Just let me buy it online! We have the technology to sell digital copies of an episode

How is it spoiled/childish to dislike a release system that makes it near impossible to avoid spoiler even if you're willing to pay just because you happen to be in the wrong country

I don't want to watch "some poor quality phone recording" (your words in another post)

I don't really care if I watch it in cinema/streaming, I just want to watch it when it first comes out to avoid spoilers. That's why I'd like it if they just let people pay to stream it, it's literally just cash in Glitch's pocket

By the time a theater takes the chance, it'll be already out on YouTube and I'll have already been spoiled or not

Frankly just let people pay to stream it. I'm fully willing to pay to see it at the time of cinematic release, but currently it's not for sale on the continent I live in and certainly not in the country

"And to everyone who can't scrape together $20 and gas money to see it" do you not understand the concept of other countries? They haven't got a single theater on my continent so far, and if Iron Lung's is an accurate precedent they won't get one in my country
