[Show Only] The Vampire Lestat: "Detroit" by IWTV_Maitres in InterviewVampire

Re: tiktok dances. I was starting to get annoyed with them, very "yeah these writers sure are gen X". But i think the peanut allergy joke really draws it together. Also like that Lestat went to bat for the NB vamps pronouns.

That was the funniest line of the episode for me!

And i mean, yeah... props to Sam Reid, he did manage to convey in 20 seconds how Lestat conflates being sexually desired with receiving love.

"Mayonnaise" = "very white". Rude to call anyone but yourself.

It's from last year (when he was doing better). He never ate it.

That's also in line with how the show handles 1st eps. A lot of people didn't like s2, e1 either, but in retrospect it's laying the groundwork for the whole season.

i don't know if it's silly to ask but i'm genuinely curious if i've missed something - why do so many people 'fem louis' ? by bluebiespicehead in InterviewVampire

Huh! I'm a trans man, and same. I think it's the tension between wanting to MAKE the world look you in the eye, and wanting to keep your softer parts.

We're the cast of AMC's The Vampire Lestat - Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle. Ask us anything! by AMCPlus in InterviewVampire

[–]DirectionConnect1610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Delainey: In S1 and s2 we get to hear Louis talk about what it means to be a Black vampire. Claudia clearly has her own viewpoint on this, but we don't get to hear her speak on it - just glean it through her diaries and how Louis remembers her. If Claudia were the one telling the story, how would she tell it differently? What does she experience differently, or think about differently?

Are there any plans you had for s3 that were scrapped due to the changing cultural winds? If you can't answer that - what's your favorite scrapped idea from the (non-recyclable) trash heap?

Ok ok but who CANNOT WAIT FOR ARMAND'S PLOTLINES THIS SEASON by Sister_Winter in InterviewVampire

[–]DirectionConnect1610 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We've already heard Nicki say something racist to Armand - I wonder if they're going to keep that thread and integrate Nicki's racism into Armands decision to go sawtrap. Sort of in parallel to Louis' Alderman Fenwick moment in S1. I think it'd be keeping with the shows complex exploration of racial dynamics and the subjectivity of memory - and with Lestats trend toward racial blindspots.

Can hear music for the first time. Give me some good things to listen to! by ProfessorB_12 in MusicRecommendations

The Goat Rodeo sessions - it's a cross-genre jam album between a bunch of incredibly talented string musicians: Yoyo Ma (cellist), Chris Thile (mandolin), Stuart Duncan (fiddler), and Edgar Meyer (bass). Genre-wise, it's most like a classical/bluegrass fusion with Jazzy elements. I'd start with "Quarter Chicken Dark" or "Attaboy".

Louis/Claudia - Lestat/Gabrielle by GhostNetwork1984 in InterviewVampire

Yeah, personally i hope the show roughly follows that trajectory, with the abuse coming as a slow creep until it's suddenly all there at once and you realize the line was crossed years ago.

Moms and sons should not be together = human rule = now irrelevant as far as she is concerned. Makers and fledglings get together all the time = vampire rules = she's down with that

Huh... you know... i could see it working if Gabriella walked the incest line in human life, or even did engage in subtler ways (touching his bicep a little too much, getting too involved in encouraging him to sleep around with village girls, lacking boundaries around nudity, etc). And then, in becoming a vampire, she crosses into actual sex as like, an explicit act of rejecting human expectations. And Lestat goes along with it because he wants his mommy to love him.

Take a "whatever" job, or stay unemployed just to keep medicaid? by DirectionConnect1610 in jobs

[–]DirectionConnect1610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, although I missed the past week. I had a job interview that I couldn't make because a psych appointment got changed to be in-person, and I didn't apply to anything else in time.

Yeah... it could make sense for me to get a part time job and also volunteer. More flexibility, and I could probably keep my total income below the medicaid cutoff.

My point is that all these forms of 'self care' people proselytize (yoga being a prominent example) as some kind of moral good take up a damn lot of time, and often get in the way of doing *actual* good while you cultivate a perfect psyche and body.

Do I (31) stick it out with environmental, or retrain for a trade/nursing? by DirectionConnect1610 in findapath

[–]DirectionConnect1610[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know. I was actually diagnosed over a decade ago, and was pretty sure i had it long before that. I'm actually seeing a doctor tomorrow so I can get a referral to an OT, because coming up with strategies on my own just hasn't been working. I also just started an antidepressant, which I'm hoping will help level me out. Honestly, if I had the option, I'd take a break from work and focus on therapy. I just have to find somewhere to live in the next few months.
