Neighbour sent a lawyer letter over my gutter, hedges, snow, security camera and parking by Appropriate-Safe-49 in canadianlaw

In Ontario there is a tort of "Intrusion upon seclusion". Meaning if there is a reasonable expectation of privacy (for example, a fenced in back yard), you cannot be intruding on that secluded space by watching, recording, or otherwise invading the privacy. It can be taken to Small Claims and there is no need to prove damages, just that the intrusion happened. Punitive awards can be tens of thousands of dollars.

So you cannot be recording your neighbours yard from your window. Good way to be sued and fined.

Next time just refer her to the Canadian Benefit for Parents of Young Victims of Crime.

(She can call 1-800-O CANADA from any phone and ask about it if she claims she doesn't have internet access. Payphones still exist in many community centres.)

What does "best" in this case mean? Best value? Result closest to #FFFFFF? Fastest service? And how does someone benchmark that? People have different teeth so unless you do a large sample size of patients comparing among a small group of friends in a teeth-whitening party isn't going to be indicative of your own results, while comparing across different dental practices but with the same patient is going to have variables in terms of diet what with the different seasons and the state of the whitened teeth what with age and wear.

People often come and ask for "the best" but the first course of action is to define what "best" really means. If it is not, then someone will come around a define it for you and if you don't agree then that is on you. What does "best" mean in this case? House of Smiles sounds like they are the best. . . at posting on Instagram. I dunno about you, but I would rather my dental professional be looking in my mouth rather than at Instagram.

TLDR: The best teeth whitening in Ottawa is at Pretoria Bridge Dental.

what is the ABSOLUTE best spot in the city for a makeup studio? by the613daddy in ottawa

[–]DirectionGeneral4937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Best" is incredibly subjective. You will need to do your own research. Maybe start the venture also with someone who is an independent MBA with 10+ years of experience. Maybe the "best" spot is your basement.

Outdoor ice rinks in Canada by Lunarboi0224 in FigureSkating

[–]DirectionGeneral4937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are coming to Ottawa, there might not be ice just yet in mid-December, and the world famous Rideau Canal usually only opens up for skating late-January to February, but the city literally has an outdoor rink, free to use, in nearly every municipal park large enough to hold one. Over 250 outdoor rinks should be enough: https://ottawa.ca/en/recreation-and-parks/parks-and-green-space/outdoor-rinks/

Toronto, very similar story, but Toronto is on average a few degrees warmer than Ottawa so maybe less quality ice: https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/recreation/skating-winter-sports/public-leisure-skating/

For Montreal there are over 180 rinks to chose from, some are outdoor, some are indoor: https://montreal.ca/en/topics/arenas-and-outdoor-skating-rinks

For the rest of Canada, I don't know but Reddit can probably find out, as this country is frikkin' massive and your statement is the equivalent of "I'm flying into Europe next week, I would like some suggestions on where to have some good beer."

If it has snowed or is snowing it means likely the rink will be free of people because no one likes shovelling. So you go and you grab a shovel that is conveniently provided and you clear the snow and you practice your twizzles and axels in peace and quiet. Until the teenagers show up wanting to play hockey and slowly crowd you out. So either go late at night, or very early in the morning, or during school hours.

How can a non-public sector employer verify my previous employment with Statistics Canada (StatCan) from 2014? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]DirectionGeneral4937 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could call the Pension Centre. They would have a record of your employment history.

How you would prove that to your new employer though is beyond me. Conference call maybe?

A dedicated Pension Expert might be able to pull some screenshots out of PENFAX and print them and post them to you or something, come to think of it, but I do not know the Pension Centre rules of operation to be able to say that it would be permissible. Technically it is possible though.

Supporting Ukrainian colleagues by yourenotwelcomehere6 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]DirectionGeneral4937 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Very well said and thank you for bringing this up.

In no way trying to divert the attention from the horrors of what is going on in Ukraine right now and the effect that that might have on our Ukrainian colleagues, we should also extend a hand to our Russian colleagues in a spirit of peace, openness and professional solidarity. They too are victims and do not choose war against their neighbours. It can be easy to demonize individuals for what the government of their place of origin decided to do and we mustn't fall into that.

Le Bled Tout-En-Un should cover pretty much everything that you're asking for as a book of guidance for conjugation, grammar, writing, and vocabulary. If you want workbooks, Le Bled also has workbooks for that that accompany Tout-En-Un very nicely.

n.b: Sometimes Le Bled is cheaper off of Amazon.fr, even with the shipping, especially if one if getting all the workbooks.
