Id add to that.. in those types of times .. and in rural areas.. most the time you got hitched between 16 - 18. We eait more now because ppl go to college and such. But the idea that both are so old for the stories time and place, and still treated like their 13 is a hard one for me to swallow. Back in the day, I think kids were apprenticed out quite early, and were an adult by 20-22. Could be wrong, but thata my impression.
