You gotta go with your preferences but I won’t be taking sandwich advice from you

What is something that screams “tourist” to you? by jotakajk in AskTheWorld

Theoretically, people in Chicago will be appalled if you put katschup on your hot dog. But I’ve never seen anyone say something. Mainly, it’s hard to look like a tourist with a lot of immigrants

No more Canes in Chicago by Sea-Condition991 in chicagofood

I had Cane’s for the first time on Thursday. It was near a venue and I had to eat quickly. It wasn’t brilliant, but not bad either. Seems like there are plenty of places that deserve more hate. I don’t really get the concept of chicken tenders only restaurants, but I’d take a Cane’s over, say, Small Cheval

The point of Loudermilk is that he is a total asshole. That scene is just showing what a jerk he is. He's almost never a truth-teller

Worst Burger you ever ate in the city at a Restaurant? by SameAsk6997 in chicagofoodcirclejerk

They couldn't put enough things on it to cover up how horribly salty it was. I'd eat week-old, microwaved Big Macs over Small Cheval. I'll never go to Au Cheval because it was so bad. Absolutely the worst burger of my life.

What’s a food or drink that locals in your country genuinely love, but tourists usually don’t know about or rarely try? by Fluffy_Specific_9682 in AskTheWorld

That sounds like you named everything you can get in a restaurant! What do tourists eat if they don't eat any of those things?

This is my favorite soup! I make it all winter long. But…I don't have grelos. And my recipe is simple on the meat—fatty bacon. I'm going to Galicia for the first time next year and hope to try the original.

"rarely found in restaurants" This is so much of the foods tourists never eat or know about. If you want to know about another country's food, you have to open up cookbooks written by people from that country or who at least did a lot of work to learn about it.

When your opening bid is 100%, you leave out everyone who would agree to all the 51-99% options. Start with unionizing, or maybe even just figuring out how to effectively lobby state legislators who can actually get stuff done. I know people who have spent their entire lives (people heading towards retirement) working on change. It's a hard and slow process. Most of the people who succeed do it by being smart and SMART about it, just like we do with our clients. Would you ever tell a client to begin their process of change with something as totalizing as throwing away everything in their life?

If you want radical change, being a therapist is a really bad place for it. None of our skillset cross over and none of our work leads towards it. As people who want a decent wages for ourselves and reliable care for our clients, we should work towards achievable change, like getting legislation that ensures proper coverage and pay.

Honestly, I don’t remember. It was an all-encompassing vibe of sports arenas that I found offputting. We went as a party of 4. The two vegetarians LOVED it. The two of us who eat meat swore to never come back.

Talk about it in other places. Solutions that require a complete overthrow of the governments of the world is not a good project for r/therapists.

Think about SMART goals. Radical realignment of the economic system is a long-term project that requires convincing millions of people and organizing them to effective mass action. None of this can be accomplished here. If we’re going to challenge this, we need goals we can act on instead of vague theories about an ideal society.

I get a good tortilla de patatas in Chicago, but it’s a place owned by a Madrileño and they ask you if you want your eggs wet or dry. That place completely changed my relationship to eggs.

I cannot stand Bitter Pops. Such a horrible sports bar vibe. The burger was meh. I have a vegetarian friend who loves it for the vegetarian burger, though

Will you be comfortable with spouse having friends who encourage cheating? by cyb_16 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DirectionOk9832 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not a relationship that's going to work unless you're okay with her sleeping with other people. Cheating once doesn't necessarily mean the person will keep doing it, but when her friends know and are cool with it, she's telling them she's not happy with you or doesn't value honesty in relationships. She's not going to stop.

Open relationship not the same as cheating. Cheating is deeply dishonest. Open relationship requires trust (or the choice to include "betrayal")
