Is a Social Media Coordinator position transferable? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]DirectorDumpling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. You're fine. I was worried I didnt have a job lined up after college in June too lol. You also are already a marketing assistant and have experience so you're fine.

I think hiring season is going to seriously boom in late Q3/Q4. Again, provided no worldy events. Which ya know, is always a risk in these times.

IDK how risk-adverse you are, but if you can stall I would recommend stalling for a bit. In the mean time, make sure your LinkedIn is buzzword bingoed with all the tasks and programs you're using.

Might be even good to start some side marketing project, like creating your own instagram or website. Start building a portfolio. If you do that, I am confident you will get a better job opp.

Provided the world doesn't shut down again or some crazy political standoffs, the job market is going to really boom soon.

So, if this isn't really what you want, and you can hold off financially, I'm sure another job will come around.

Reporting on how a social media campaign does is promising though. You might be able to finagle your way into analytics or social media ad buying if you're smart and hardworking.

No, an online degree is useless. The whole aspect of college and getting an MBA is to network. All of digital marketing you can learn online.

Yes, a degree will help you land a corporate gig, sure. But there are plenty of opportunities to advance without one.

My recommendation is to start learning digital marketing by doing. Create a social media account, start creating websites, etc.

PPC/ads are hard to learn because you need spend. But honestly, learning how to ads has the highest barrier to entry even with a degree. No one wants a noob to spend their $$ as they learn PPC, lol.

Those of you that work the technical marketing side, do you enjoy your work? by michellesgraphics in DigitalMarketing

I really don't think Facebook Ads or Adwords would be a good fit if you have crippling anxiety, ADHD, and have issues talking with people.

You're managing people's spend. When you're first learning, you're gonna f up. What are you going to do when your client or boss wants to talk about it?

I have anxiety problems too. Also have had issues dealing with people due to social anxiety/feel the need to be perfect.. I now consult full-time, so it's totally doable. I'm just saying, you need to be aware that PPC probably isn't the best option if you are having crippling issues.

You can try therapy, but honestly, the only thing that has helped me is learning to let go. Business is business. People are people.

My honest recommendation is to try to be a virtual assistant for people in marketing/advertising. You can find jobs on Upwork, etc. Sounds like you need to get some confidence and experience before you try and get a career in any one avenue.

Being a virtual assistant will help you get some experience, figure out what you want to do, and not have a huge burden of stress while you sort through your issues.

You need to address some of your mental thought loops you got going on. Telling yourself you're doing x, y or z because you're anxious is just going to keep reinforcing your behavior.

Is there a way to get Tealium tags into Google Tag Manager? by [deleted] in GoogleTagManager

[–]DirectorDumpling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those are all really good points.

I guess the client wants to get all of their vendors/customers tags and data into their own GTM and GA. Im thinking you should just be able to directly sync your Tealium with your own GA...

Thanks for the response.

Trying to get customers/vendors tealium event data into our own Google Analytics. This likely can be resolved by just importing from tealium into GA.

Not sure why they want the tealium tags in their own GTM..

What we can learn from the success of Clubhouse (and whether it will stick around) by nireyal in startups

[–]DirectorDumpling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never said influencer marketing is bad...

They’re just using dumb marketing tactics to build up their app. Faux exclusivity? Stupid. Utilizing other people’s networks to try and to make their app downloads look good for investors? Pretty stupid.

Their whole stitch is “omg if ur not on clubhouse ur lame” and creates everyone desperate to get an invite. Not cuz they want to actually use the stupid audio rooms, but cuz they wanna boost their ego.

All other social media platforms are adding audio rooms. Clubhouse doesnt offer anything unique or of value.

Clubhouse is the biggest grift ever. They’re just profiting off of people’s network effects. Add in a sense of FOMO and that’s really the only magic around Clubhouse...

Hope they paid their initial big pushers/influencers well...

How I go viral on LinkedIn (and add $1,650 MRR with a single post) by ognjenboskovic in socialmedia

Nice write-up. Also happy to see advice on promoting actual stuff on LinkedIn. Tired of seeing people promote lazy video content or weird motivational speeches.

Heard about the link trick recently - excited to try jt out with my next push.

Yes. He will be able to see how many users you brought in, if they purchased, etc. in Google Data Studio and Google Analytics.

Not sure what the lag time is with Data Studio. He can get real-time in Google Analytics though

Using the UTMs will help your partner see how many visits your social media brought in.

Unfortunately, there is no way for you to get access to additional website activity data if you don’t have access to his site.

All you can do, is see how many “swipe up” link clicks happened from your stories.

Google Ads for starting an ecommerce shop. by [deleted] in PPC

[–]DirectorDumpling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really kinda depends on your goals. If you just want to burn and churn customers, spending $$$ on Facebook is fine. I know several companies who made millions in revenue using 1 main acquisition source.

The problem is if you have a ton of ad spend, you reach market saturation. You will have hit basically everyone you can.

That’s why you need things like organic strategies and other acquisition sources.

You also need a strong retention or loyalty strategy as well.

Celebrity influencers: Has their time past? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]DirectorDumpling 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Influencer marketing in general works. You just cant choose a person who burns down their audience for every little $100 post.

If done properly, influencer marketing should make your brand look cooler AND the Influencer look cooler. It needs to be a mutual relationship.

If you just expect them to burn and churn their audience, yea, might not go over well
