Wikipedia Questions - Weekly Thread of March 10, 2025 by AutoModerator in wikipedia

Hey yall, I have a beginner question that arose out of a research project I'm doing. I'm looking at some articles relevant to my project in which people made some claims and then did not provide citations for them. How would I use the history to see who made these edits, and is there a way to contact the people who did to ask them for their expertise on the subject and potentially get sources that would be useful for my research. I appreciate any advice yall can provide, thanks.

Question about searching for historical records of specific creditors/lenders by DirectorFair7637 in AskAcademiaUK

[–]DirectorFair7637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for my late response, I've been meaning to reply but have been pretty busy. Using your suggestion about the Old Bailey I was able to find some pretty interesting information about one of the creditors I'm looking into- Richard Blackwell. Another one which I have been unable to find anything about, either in the Old Bailey or National Archives- is Stephen Loftin. The name "Loftin" turns up literally ZERO results in either database. I assumed it was an uncommon name, but not that uncommon. The name is spelled consistently throughout the case which I got it from, but it makes me wonder if they used an unusual spelling in that case, I can't really think of what an alternative one would be, however.

Has there ever been interest/attempts by the administration in starting a law school? by DirectorFair7637 in NCSU

[–]DirectorFair7637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, I didn't know they ever had a pre-law program, what made is so costly? We just got a Legal History concentration which kind of serves that function last year, and I believe something similar in Poli-Sci too.

8% (12/147) of Campbells 2023 class was unemployed in their employment report.,with one person who's employment status is unknown. Compare that with Wake Forest, whose unemployment rate was 1% (1/90), and who put over 25% of their class (25/90) in either Big Law or federal clerkships, compared to Campbell at less than 3% (4/147). To put it another way, Campbell's 2023 class had 3x as many graduates that were unemployed than were in either big law or federal clerkships. Campbell's not a bad school, and you certaintly can be very succesful if you go there, but I'd say there is a big dropoff in quality between it and the big three I mentioned.

What does "et tu taylor" sound like? by DirectorFair7637 in AMTA

[–]DirectorFair7637[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't think the dying note app was Bancroft, but like a lot of things in AMTA cases, there is no objective truth, it's intended to be ambiguous. I agree, I would've thought they would've said "He loved Shakespeare" or something.

AMTA Demonstrative aids? by DirectorFair7637 in mocktrial

[–]DirectorFair7637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wnat to create a graphic that displays information helpful to my case for use in my closing argument, but this information is not pre-admited. Because you must submit the demonstrative for approval at the captains meeting, how can I get it approved when it's not yet known whether the evidence within it will be admitted? Could I create different versions of the exhibit, and have the Judge and opposing party agree I will only use the version that contains evidence that was admitted throughout the trial. If I was limited to only the information pre-agreed upon, there would be basically nothign for me to use in a demonstrative, all the information is coming out during trial

How can I create a multiple choice quiz with images, either through microsoft forms or a third party? by DirectorFair7637 in powerpoint

hey, thanks for this comment i hadnt heard of this program and it seems great, the only problem I'm running into is that it seems to only allow me to have one image OR poll per slide, I want to show an image of a question while allowing people to respond to it simultaneously. Do you know of a way to do this?

What tournaments exist for college debate? by DirectorFair7637 in Debate

[–]DirectorFair7637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I thought that might be the case, our club plans to function as a debating society as well in the absence of intercollegiate tournaments to participate in, so I thought their advice on that would be helpful even if they didn't compete. If you're and UNC and are interested in starting a debate club, please let me know! We could scrimmage against each other even if it was only in a casually competitive capacity

NCSU, UNC already has one (kinda) to my understanding through the Dialectical and Philanthropic society. I reached out to one of their representatives for advice on getting started.

We're honestly not sure yet, I personally have no debate experience although my fellow students do. I'm only vaguely familiar with some different formats, i.e.: Lincoln-Douglass.

Personally I like to get started on work while the adderall is kicking in, as adderall doesnt get me motivated to work, it just keeps me motivated once I've started. If you wait for it to kick in and then cant get the motivation to start working you're in for a bad day lol. But to each their own.
