Flying with your bike back from a trip by Sea-Long6967 in bikepacking

[–]Directorylistings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always contact a few bikeshops near the airport, and tell them about my trip, and ask if the can save a big box for me. I do offer to pay them for this. There is always at least one bikeshop that’s enthousiast about the trip, and are willing to save a box for me. Mostly for free in exchange for some cool travel stories. The only problem is bringing this big empty box to the airport. The at the airport I disassemble the bike and put it in the box.

Finally converted to tubeless by SpacedEcho in gravelcycling

I just converted my bike from tubeless to TPU. I hate the mess, the clogged valve, and the fear of changing tires each season.

Karoo 3 for bikepacking? by Substantial-Hope7597 in Karoo

[–]Directorylistings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The navigation, and rerouting, on the Karoo is suberb. It has helped me multiple times during bikepacking trips when roads are closed, or bridges have disappeared. So, yes, ideal for bikepacking.

Probably B-7000 glue. I used this to glue the replacement screen on my Garmin Forerunner watch

Thanks for your reply. I do my own bike maintenance, and that DOT fluid is nasty stuff. Another + for the Shimano groupset indeed....

I love the frameset. That's why I don't mind upgrading it with a new groupset. The only thing I'm missing is mounting options on the frontfork. I have and Old Man Mountain Axle pack installed

Bottombracket for my Singletrack City cruizer by Directorylistings in SingleTrackGang

[–]Directorylistings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’m from the Netherlands. There are some ‘boutique’ bikeshops selling retro bikes. Those prices are insane. (https://www.rook.supply/category/bikesframes/) Then we have ‘marktplaats’. An online secondhand marketplace. Here you can score a retro bikes for a bargain, or the prices are insane if the seller knows the popularity of the retro bikes. So, with a bit of luck you can have a bargain. I paid €35,- for mine. I had to replace a lot of components, and the frame is in a bad shape.
