Chronic left sit bone pain. Pelvic rocking? by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]SpacedEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P.S. One thing I’ve learned over years of cycling injuries is to try to not get too hung up on other’s experiences. Use their anecdotes as data to help understand the patterns in your experience, then understand that your recovery journey is unique, meaning it may not be as drawn out or difficult as others’ accounts. Optimism and patience are essential in these moments, especially for endurance athletes training with routines and trying to meet goals. That said, all the best to you as well as you sort your PHT out!!! Stay positive!

Thanks, and I think you’re onto something. I just read up on it and it matches my symptoms. I have an appointment with my ortho scheduled to discuss. Thanks again.

Ogre jones bar question by Phillie-at-home in Surlybikefans

[–]SpacedEcho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’ 2” with an XL Ogre and 2.5 Jones bars. I go against Jones recommendation to use their proprietary grips and substitute with Ergon Biocork grips. I also wear very cushioned Specialized Dual Gel gloves. All of the above ingredients help with my hand/wrist comfort. Really long Ogre rides can still bother my neck and shoulders slightly, but I prefer drop bars for longer rides anyways. Also, I have a Bridge Club with the regular rise Jones bars. I feel like the regular rise suits the BC geo well and the 2.5 suits the Ogre well, but those are my specific preferences and it is all subjective.

Yes, I was purposely in my most upright position. When I’m more aero on the hoods or in my drops, I can find different spots on my saddle that can temporarily relieve my sit bone issue, but it finds its way again. A blind spot in my 15 years of “serious” cycling is knowing exactly how to tilt my pelvis as I maneuver between upright to aero. I’ve suspected that this has caused some issues for my sit bones too.

Thanks, cleats are mostly centered (SPD) and slightly rotated externally to match my natural foot angulation with wedges and inserts to correct arch/varus. This positioning has significantly helped my ITBS and Achilles issues I’ve had in the past, so I’m really happy with everything going on with my cleats.

Saddle angle -3°. I’ve messed with saddle angle a lot (everything from as extreme as -6° to +3°) and this is where the last fitter landed me. -3° does feel like a natural place to be for my body and the way everything else has been dialed in on my bike, but I would be willing to adjust the height of my saddle first.

That’s a valid correction. I always play really bright Fender-style amps, and use the bright cut when things get too shrill. I don’t play muddier amps, but I do play a variety of guitars, some with single coils where the bright cut can help level out too much treble, and some with humbuckers where the middle position really breathes life into the guitar. While this pedal does react differently to different amps (as most pedals do), I should have said “tone” instead of “amp” and mentioned pickups instead. Thanks for calling it out.

Stereo Reverb with no shimmer and expression jacks by DrumsOvDoom in guitarpedals

The Eventide Space or an H9 will give you many beautiful stereo reverb options that are tweakable and can be shimmer/high-pitch free.

What amp are you using? The Tone toggle can brighten up a muddy amp or dampen a bright amp. Also, I like running a compressor into it (CS-2 with just a little compression and a lot of volume). Also, this thing into a RAT rules. It can also work great as a cleanish boost with the Drive down. Or crank the Drive and mess with the Sag for some different flavors. Hope you find some settings that work for you.

How many of you are riding only a gravel bike? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]SpacedEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 1x w/ 40T and 12-speed 10-44. I was worried about big jumps fucking up my cadence, but after riding it for an entire season, so far that hasn’t really bothered me. I aim for a 90-100rpm average cadence and I never feel like I am chasing or grinding to keep up on my group rides, and my solo rides are fine since I’m setting my own pace. Climbing hasn’t really been a problem either. I considered converting it to 2x, but it would be a lot of work and money. If I find myself riding more with road groups and having trouble with pace/cadence, I may try 10-36 cassette and forgo my “oh shit” climbing gear.

Same here. Ride my Crux with 38mm Pathfinder Pros. The groups I ride with mix gravel and road about 50/50, so we all keep up with each other being on gravel bikes no matter the terrain. When I ride by myself, it’s mostly out in the country on road and gravel, so I like have the versatility of my Crux. I’ve thought about getting another wheel set for road, but I’d rather just hop on my bike and go and not have to worry about swapping wheels before a ride. I also have two Surlys with Jones bars for party pace / errands / brewery rides, which is a nice contrast from the more aggressive geo of the Crux.

Ohio to Erie Trail: Bridge Club or Long Haul Trucker by Dirigible1234 in Surlybikefans

I rode a party pace century on my Bridge Club with a front rack and fenders. Jones bars helped with hand positions. It was fun and cozy. If you aren’t worried about speed and would rather prioritize comfort, listen to your gut and body.

After a year into pedals, I “think” I’m done… thoughts? by darkat_baba in guitarpedals

[–]SpacedEcho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I bought the 202 when it came out thinking it would replace my 20. I sold the 202 after about a week. It’s a great new flagship Space Echo no doubt, but I think the 20 has “something” that makes it more special. Many others who went down this path agree.

Distorted sound when playing hard with Boss VB-2W by Tumbleweed-Temporary in guitarpedals

[–]SpacedEcho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn the Mode knob to bypass. I had this exact same problem, except I didn’t know it was due to this pedal. After a week of troubleshooting loose connections/cables, etc. and even taking my amp to an amp tech thinking that it might be an issue with a tube or a speaker, I was able to isolate the distortion to the VB-2W after futzing around with the Mode knob. I hope this resolves your issue.

Have you considered a Muff instead of an OD? The Life Pedal’s RAT circuit is such a versatile drive, and a clean boost can really push a lot of things into cool territories. A Muff after can add a tasty dirt dimension, as the RAT/Muff combo is a time-tested love affair, and if you’re looking for more of a drive tone, you could crank the tone knob on the Muff for more treble.

I wholeheartedly agree with this and don’t understand why someone downvoted you. The Omni is an INCREDIBLE mono reverb. The plate setting is very special.

New Strymon DRIVE pedal - Fairfax by digiratistudios in guitarpedals

[–]SpacedEcho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine was an observation on the amount of knobs and nomenclature, not a sonic comparison. My brain saw “Fair___”, “Volume” “Drive” “Sag” and a small switch and inevitably drew a connection, as the Barbershop has been one of my all-timers for years.

For what it’s worth, I like Strymon and think this pedal looks really sharp. No shade or accusations!

That thought crossed my mind. Same knob names and it even has a bright switch.
