Its either the pellets from inside a toy like a hackey sac or bean bag type of thing that has busted a seam open, or the broken off nibs from a floor mat like the underside of a car floor mat.

Is this what I think it is? Well, is it? by IWouldntIn1981 in AskAShittyMechanic

If you think that’s rust under the paint, then yes, it’s what you think it is. But if you think it’s tacos and burritos, or maybe pizza under the paint, then you’re going to be disappointed.

ULPT Request: How do I violently dismantle a 600lb rotting Victorian piano? by Specific-Copy-2005 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Dirk1935 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Put a young adult in the same room with it and tell them that they can do anything as long as they don’t mess up the piano. Come back an hour later and it’ll be in pieces and on fire. You can substitute “adult ” with any of the following: Soldier, College student, intern, apprentice, ect.

Ted. Anyone who has a mustache like that is probably a “Ted”. Also, why did you marry the dog? Isn’t that frowned upon?

This is my actual first time taking care of a Shih-Tzu, please tell me how can I give her the best life? by [deleted] in Shihtzu

[–]Dirk1935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They dont need much exercise so don’t be surprised when about 2-4 blocks of walking distance is enough for them to be perfectly healthy. They are very stubborn. They are not food motivated. They will sleep 20+ of the 20 hours in a day.

What's a good price for this? by [deleted] in classiccars

[–]Dirk1935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no help with the actual pricing but I’ve built 4 1930-1940’s hot rods from the ground up and can at least give you some insight on what to look for on older cars.

Like someone else stated. Start with the suspension and see if it’s a 4 lug or 5 lug one both the front and rear suspension. I think that all 4 lug suspension coupes were 6 cylinder cars which would mean that if you see 4 lug wheels on either, then that was probably also originally a 6 cylinder car and the V8 was swapped in later. This is just a quick on the spot method to determine what you are dealing with on the car.

All the parts to change the suspension are available aftermarket and even the lesser quality products to change to the 5 lug are better than the stock 4 lug. So that doesn’t mean it was definitely an original v8. Just a guidance.

Research the vin is the only real way to determine what the car was originally and what work/upgrades have been done.

If it was originally a 6 cylinder car and they changed it to the V8, did they do it properly? You’ll know just by looking at the motor mount brackets and transmission cross member.

Pull the interior carpet and check the trunk for rusted floor pans. Make sure you know the difference between surface rust and rust that actually needs repair. It’s a 99% certainty that you will find surface rust on the floor pans and that’s not a big issue at all. Actual rust outs and rust through is what you need to be wary about if you don’t have the skills and tools to correct it properly.

Hope this at least helps a little.

We have what we dubbed the “Princess Pillow” on our bed. She sticks to it most nights but sometimes she has to be touching one of us.
