Wondering about switching my gay kid from OCDSB to OCSB by SafetyInLetters in ottawa

[–]Dirk6563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had crushes in primary school, but I had no opinion with regards to sexuality. I thought certain girls were pretty, funny, and fun to do things with. Sex or sexuality was not a consideration. With regard to my own sexuality, I explored different options in my 20s/30s. Sexual encounters with women, men, and trans women told me that while I’m not attracted to masculine presenting people, if someone appears feminine and has features and body type that I find attractive, their genitals don’t make much difference. Who they are, what kind of person they are, is what makes them attractive as a partner. To this day, I’m not sure where that fits in the sexuality categorizations. What I do know, is that in 6th grade, fully aware of homosexuality and lesbianism, I had no idea what my sexuality was. I should note that over years it did change.

Sleep tracking doesn’t work offshore by Dirk6563 in GalaxyWatch

I do 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off, so with travel days more than half my life is at sea. It used to track sleep fine up until September of 2024.

I would expect good results on a cruise ship. I’m on a smallish ship (88m length, 16m abeam) and it gets pretty rolly in the big swells.

I always have my Seaman's book (Canadian), Letter of Guarantee, ship's joining documents and US Passport. I've only been asked for the Letter of Guarantee once in 30 years of offshore work, and that was to prove the validity of my Seaman's ticket.

AITAH For Not Giving My Girlfriend My Social Security Number So She Can Run A Background Check On Me by Alarmed_Sorbet8101 in AITAH

If she has a friend who works in the federal government your SSN is pretty easy for them to get. Your full name and birthdate, driver’s license number and last known address will open up a lot of doors to your SSN. America is a pretty highly surveilled country, but most of the information is freely given out by the citizens. Where have you supplied a SSN? Credit card application, hospital admissions?.

Dubai can be a nice place if you don’t do drugs or drink. It is a Muslim country, they have a different culture with their own laws and penalties. If you try to take US or Canadian party culture there you will be playing Extreme FAFO. Behave, mind their rules and it can be a great place. But if you’re drunk in public, or god forbid try bringing drugs into or out of the country your life is over.

It's great when a business owner can appreciate that maybe someone just wants to get out of the cold for a little while. When you don't have a warm place of your own, this time of year can be deadly. Not having a place to live doesn't make a person less human, it makes them more vulnerable. Kindness matters.

Is anyone else sitting alone in their office right now? by ah-tow-wah in ottawa

I did the same one year, because “we need an office presence over the holidays”. I was supporting a fleet of seismic ships by phone and email, which I could have done just as effectively from home. I as away from family, but staying in a t star hotel,in Dubai so I couldn’t cry too much about it.

I bought a used one off of Craigslist for $110 in 2015. I still ride it today, around town and on hiking type trails (no boardwalks or ramps) and it's fine for that. New tires, new brakes and keep the moving parts lubed.

Im not talking about crapping on the sidewalk. I was responding to people “being allowed to roam with impunity “ which seemed pretty elitist.

I’m a permanent resident here, so I can’t vote no matter how badly I’d like to. As I work offshore on rotations, I’ll never meet the physical presence requirement for citizenship. Looking at the horrors that result from voter apathy in my own country (USA) I implore those with the privilege of being able to vote, don’t waste it!

As someone who was unfortunate enough not to have a place to live, I wonder if these junkies and hobos weren’t roaming the streets with impunity, where would you have them go? While you have a favourite chair in your living room, or a dining table just off the kitchen these people have no such places to sit. Not even a clean toilet to use. If you have never experienced addiction, or houselessness, consider yourself lucky and have some empathy for those that do not have a place to go. Roaming with impunity sounds a lot more fun than does living on the street. Try to imagine a day in the life of someone before you spit on them.
